divh2Certified Medication Aide/h2pstrongKey Job Duties and Responsibilities/strong/ppThe Certified Medication Aide assists in the administering of medications to residents as ordered by the attending physician, under the direction of the attending physician, the nurse supervisor or charge nurse, and the Director of Nursing Services. The administration of medications shall be in accordance with established nursing standards, the policies, procedures, and practices of this facility, and the requirements of this state./ppThe following is a general list of key job duties and responsibilities in your position. The list is not to be considered inclusive and you will be required to perform other duties/responsibilities as assigned by an authorized supervisor./ppstrongDuties and Responsibilities/strong/ppComply with the Facilitys personnel, safety, and corporate policies and procedures./ppComply with the nursing departments policies and procedures./ppReport witnessed or reported allegations of resident abuse/neglect immediately to the Administrator/DON or Nurse Manager on Call./ppTreat residents, family members, visitors, and team members with respect and dignity./ppMaintain the confidentiality of all resident and family information./ppReport to work on time and as scheduled./ppReport any complaints/grievances made by residents to the Director of Nursing Services or per policy. Participate and cooperate with any facility surveys (inspections) made by authorized government agencies as requested by the Administrator or Director of Nursing Services./ppMaintain a clean and organized medication cart and medication room./ppAlways protect resident privacy when administering medication, knock before entering the residents room. Accurately and safely prepare, administer, and document the oral and/or topical medications that are commonly used in this facility that may be ordered for resident use by the attending physician or the Medical Director./ppDocument and report errors in the administration of medications immediately upon discovery./ppEnsure that all medications administered are properly labeled and follow facility policy on storage, labeling and dating of medications. Complete medication charting per facility policy and procedure./ppAssist with following facility policies and procedures regarding the destroying of medications./ppAssist in documenting and removing medications that are discontinued by the attending physician./ppFollow facility procedures governing drug receipt errors, including notifying the delivery source and the Director of Nursing Services./ppFollow facility procedures in holding medications for residents who are out of the facility or per physicians order. Honor the residents right to refuse medications./ppObserve and verify that medication is ingested or applied as directed. Document any instance where prescribed medication is not administered including reason(s) for refusal./ppPromptly notify the Charge Nurse, Nurse Supervisor, or Director of Nursing Services of any refusals or reactions to medications by residents./ppEnsure that no medication is administered without a written, signed, dated order from an attending licensed physician. Verify the identity of the resident before administering the medication treatment./ppFollow the facilitys procedures allowing residents to self-administer their medications./ppAssist the Nurse Supervisor/Charge Nurse in monitoring and documenting all aspects of such self-administering. Notify nurse when medication refills are needed./ppBe familiar with the meaning and usage of common medical abbreviations, symbols, and terms relative to the administration of medications as used by the facility, pharmacists, and physicians./ppUse personal protective equipment when performing procedures that involve exposure to blood or body fluids. Report all hazardous conditions and equipment to the Nurse Supervisor/Charge Nurse immediately. Follow established safety precautions in the performance of all duties./ppWash hands before and after performing any service for the resident./ppReport occupational exposures to blood, body fluids, infectious materials, and hazardous chemicals in accordance with the facilitys policies and procedures governing accidents and incidents./ppAssist residents in daily hygiene and toileting needs, along with all other daily living activities./ppAssist CNAs with daily duties when needed./ppstrongEssential Job Duties/Physical Requirements/strong/ppThe following is a general list of key job/physical requirements for your position. The list is not to be considered inclusive and other job/physical requirements may be necessary as deemed by the Facility./ppRegular worksite attendance./ppMust have a valid CMA certification that is in good standing with the State./ppMust have a valid CPR certification./ppIf required to operate a motor vehicle for business purposes, must successfully complete the requirements contained in Companys Motor Vehicles policy./ppMust have basic computer skills./ppMust be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language./ppMust be able to work beyond normal working hours and on weekends and holidays when necessary./ppMust be able to assist in the evacuation of residents during emergency situations./ppMust be able to perform the essential position functions of the job with, or without reasonable accommodation./ppMust be able to meet the general health requirements set forth by State regulations and Company policy which may include medical and physical examinations./ppEmployee is required to use a transfer/gait belt or to obtain the assistance of another employee when attempting to assist residents when lifting or carrying objects in excess of 25 pounds.
