Company description: FBD Holdings PLC Job description: Job Overview The Enterprise Architect, reporting to the Head of IT Architecture, is responsible for defining, owning, and evolving FBDs enterprise-wide architecture vision, principles, and target states across business, application, data, integration, security, and infrastructure domains. The Enterprise Architect acts as a critical bridge between business strategy and IT execution, working with business leaders to understand strategic objectives, regulatory drivers, and capability needs, and translating these into clear architectural principles, target states, and roadmaps. Job Responsibilities: Enterprise Architecture Strategy & Governance Support definition, maintenance and communication of FBDs enterprise architecture, including principles, standards, reference architectures, and target states across all architecture domains. Participate in FBDs Design Authority, presenting strategic blueprints and solution designs and ensuring solution and programme architectures align to the agreed enterprise direction. Provide architectural assurance and direction across major programmes and change initiatives. Architecture Design & Enablement Define and evolve enterprise level application, integration, data, infrastructure, and security architectures, ensuring consistency, reuse, scalability, and maintainability. Establish and maintain architecture patterns and integration standards, including API based and event driven integration. Ensure enterprise architectures meet security, resilience, regulatory, and operational requirements, including alignment with DORA and established IT controls. Stakeholder Collaboration & Leadership Work collaboratively with senior business and technology stakeholders to ensure shared understanding of architectural direction and constraints. Provide leadership, mentoring, and oversight to Solution Architects, encouraging consistency and high architectural quality across delivery teams. Continuous Improvement & Standards Lead the evaluation and selection of technology platforms, standards, and services, balancing innovation with operational stability. Identify opportunities to improve architectural processes, governance, and artefacts, driving improvements through to adoption. Education Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent professional experience. Relevant architecture certification such as TOGAF, IASA Core Certification, or equivalent. Relevant technical certifications (e.g. Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365) desirable. Experiences 10+ years experience working in IT, with 5+ years in architecture roles, including enterprise or domain level architecture. Demonstrated experience defining and delivering enterprise architecture in complex, regulated environments. Strong experience with on-premise enterprise environments, with integration to SaaS platforms such as Microsoft Dynamics 365 and Microsoft 365. Strong background in architecture governance, architectural standards, IT controls, and risk management. Experience with Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365 desirable Experience using architecture modelling frameworks and tools, particularly ArchiMate. Experience working in the insurance industry or another regulated industry would be a strong advantage. Comfortable engaging with senior stakeholders, vendors, and delivery teams across multiple disciplines. Competencies Strategic thinker with a strong ability to connect business objectives to technology outcomes. Highly organised, structured, and detail oriented approach to architectural work. Strong leadership and influencing skills, with the ability to guide without direct authority. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
