About
At Simmons University, Adjunct Faculty Mentors provide small‑group oversight to approximately 15 students in the Doctor of Social Work (DSW) program. The AFM works with a student throughout their time in the program, serving as a guide for performance transitions, professional development, and goal attainment. Responsibilities
Send an introductory email to each assigned student after assignment. Send periodic emails during the term to solicit questions and provide supportive responses. Meet with mentees 2–3 times per term, either individually or in groups, focusing on goal attainment, professional identity, and career development. Provide guidance on concerns or conflicts that may arise with course progression. Oversee assigned students for the duration of their matriculation; if a personality clash occurs, exchange students with another faculty member. Offer general references to the DSW Student Handbook for capstone or project queries and refer students to the Student Advisor or full‑time faculty for detailed questions. Encourage students needing assistance with personal issues to use EAP, the Writing Center, or Student Success Representative. Qualifications
MSW degree and a social work doctorate, or a comparable degree in a related field. At least one prior term of teaching experience in the DSW program. Will be employed using a Simmons email account; must regularly check this account for notifications. Compensation

Simmons is an equal‑opportunity employer. The university is committed to creating, developing, promoting, and enhancing inclusive hiring practices and ensuring a diverse workforce.
