Michael Baker International is seeking a passionate and detail-driven Electrical Engineer to join our dynamic team in Rocky Hill, CT. This job will allow the flexibility to work remotely. In this role, you'll lead the design and documentation of electrical systems for a wide range of impactful building projects—from federal and Department of Defense initiatives to healthcare, data centers, higher education, and industrial facilities. You'll collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of architects, interior designers, civil engineers, and building systems professionals to deliver innovative, high-performance solutions. Participate in the design and development of electrical construction documents, including layouts, details, and specifications. Engineer complete building systems—lighting, power distribution, and specialty electrical systems—across a variety of project types. Collaborate with architects, interior designers, civil engineers, and other disciplines to deliver integrated building solutions. Engage with clients, support proposal development, and contribute to business growth. Perform advanced analysis, calculations, and design evaluations for electrical power and lighting systems. Use Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD to produce construction drawings and design electrical systems, including device layouts, circuiting, lighting, and panel schedules. Review project requirements and coordinate with other disciplines to refine design strategies and respond to evolving project conditions. Participate in client meetings, assess project needs, present design concepts, and adjust plans to meet client expectations. Communicate technical and program information clearly to team members, management, and clients. Define scope of work, conduct site inspections, and ensure quality and compliance throughout the design process. Coordinate or perform field work to gather data and verify existing conditions. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of government, military, and industry standards. Conduct internal technical reviews and quality control checks on project deliverables. Maintain strong communication with internal teams and external stakeholders. Edit and review technical specifications and contribute written narratives for project documentation. Review shop drawings, respond to RFIs, and perform site visits during construction. Prepare design fee estimates for proposals and RFPs. Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with a focus on Electrical Engineering 5 years of related experience Licensed Professional Engineer Required Effective visual/verbal communication skills Possess a proficient understanding of inter-relationships among design/engineering disciplines, clients, and construction Extensive experience in Autodesk Revit/AutoCAD Preferred Qualifications
Engineering software experience (SKM, EasyPower, AGI32, or Elumtools) Knowledge of Building Information Modeling (BIM) Micro-Grid Design experience This is a remote role, however, the selected candidate will have the option to work in the Rocky Hill, CT office. The approximate compensation range for this position is $111,000 to $140,000. This compensation range is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation is dependent upon factors such as education, qualifications, experience, skillset, and physical work location.
