divh2Nursing Assistant/Unit Coordinator/h2pThe Nursing Assistant/Unit Coordinator at North Mississippi Health Services is responsible for providing routine patient care, coordinating nursing unit activities to support effective and positive patient experience. This role engages strong organizational and communication skills to complete clerical and administrative duties, support inventory and document management, maintain accurate records, and facilitate information and communication across a range of stakeholder groups such as physicians, patients, and visitors to promote overall smooth and effective operational function./ph3Job Functions/h3ulliEffectively and efficiently coordinates the activities of the nursing unit./liliAssists with all admissions, discharges, transfers and changes within the unit utilizing the electronic patient tracking system and electronic medical record./liliPerforms a variety of office, secretarial and other related duties both within and in support of assigned unit./liliManages all intake and outbound documents./liliHandles incoming and outgoing communications./liliEffectively and efficiently answer patients call lights/requests and reports requests to appropriate personnel. Patient Care:/liliPerforms tasks related to routine patient care within an assigned unit under the supervision of a Registered Nurse./liliAssists with patients plan of care by providing and/or assisting with activities of daily living, including but not limited to personal hygiene, grooming, mobility, and comfort./liliEffectively and efficiently coordinates daily patient care activities on the nursing unit./liliAssists nursing staff to better facilitate patient admissions, discharges, and transfers./liliPerforms a variety of duties both within and in support of assigned unit as delegated by nursing staff./liliResponds to patients call lights/requests and reports to appropriate personnel when necessary./liliAssists patients in meeting nutritional needs, including but not limited to assisting with feeding, providing fluids and supplements./liliInventory Control:/liliOrders, stocks, and replenishes unit supplies and necessary equipment in a cost efficient manner./liliParticipates in identifying unit financial responsibility during budget preparation./liliAssists with keeping unit within its budget restraints./liliCommunication:/liliCommunicates patient information, concerns, or issues to appropriate interdisciplinary team member(s)./liliFacilitates and directs communication among visitors, employees, and physicians within assigned unit./liliFacilitates unit communication including, but not limited to, telephones, intercom system, call light system, computers, etc. and relays information as appropriate./liliCustomer Service:/liliGreets and assists all customers, physicians, patients, visitors and employees in a friendly and efficient manner./liliEnsures a safe and clean environment for patients and health care team./liliWelcomes visitors to the unit by greeting them, answering questions, giving directions, and referring inquiries as appropriate to nursing staff./liliAnswers telephone and directs calls and inquiries to the appropriate department or staff member./liliPolite and friendly in all interactions whether by phone or in person./liliReporting/Recordkeeping:/liliFacilitates effective communication between disciplines by providing organized medical records./liliAssures timely and accurate access to pertinent patient data./liliMaintains unit-specific records/reports (i.e. unit log books, staffing sheets, etc.) as assigned./liliDocumentation:/liliDocuments care provided using worksheets and/or the electronic medical record./liliRegulation:/liliAdheres to professional standards, behavioral standards, and hospital policies as set forth by the organization./liliComplies with applicable Local/State/Federal policies/procedures/guideline/regulations/laws/statues./liliMaintains confidentiality by protecting personal healthcare information of all patients./liliAs it relates to Telesitter Nursing Assistance/Unit Coordinator, the following essential functions and physical demands would also apply./liliThe Telesitter remotely monitors patients who are a safety risk via a two-way communication system. Telesitter is a sedentary job:/lili95% of the shift, no lifting over 5 lbs, and push pull: rarely, no physical interaction with patients or floor staff./li/ulh3Qualifications/h3h3Education/h3ulliHigh School Diploma or GED Equivalent/li/ulh3Licenses and Certifications/h3ulliCPR - Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation/li/ulh3Work Experience/h3h3Knowledge Skills and Abilities/h3ulliWorking knowledge of computers and software programs; required/liliMust meet and maintain education requirements upon hire and annually as determined by unit and Continuing Education Department/liliWorking knowledge of office equipment (i.e. telephones, fax machines, scanners, etc.); required/liliExcellent organizational and communication (written and verbal) skills; required/liliKnowledge of medical terminology; preferred/liliExcellent interpersonal skills; required/liliPrevious nursing assistant experience preferred but not required./liliBasic knowledge of computers preferred/liliMust be able to read and write/liliUtilizes and cares for equipment on nursing unit/liliMust be able to recognize changes and abnormalities in the patients condition and report to appropriate staff/liliMust be able to prioritize patient care, carry out assigned duties and report and/or document same utilizing worksheets and electronic medical record./liliAssumes additional duties as delegated or needed./liliAnticipates resources needed and prioritizes work assignments/liliAbility to multi-task and manage multiple interruptions while performing duties/liliInitiates and follows through with work assignments, self-motivated/liliJob requires frequent interactions with patients, family members, nurses, physicians, visitors, and other staff members./liliMust have effective written and verbal communication skills/liliMust reflect a positive, caring attitude toward patients, staff and the public./liliMust have excellent customer service skills, both in person and by phone Physical Demands/li/ulpA thorough completion of this section is needed for compliance with legal standards such as the Americans with Disabilities Act.
