About

*Data & AI Lead*
At CareScribe, we design technology that helps people work smarter, communicate better, and create more inclusive environments.
What began as a mission to make workplaces and education more accessible has evolved into building tools that help people around the world focus, stay productive, and feel connected.
Our products Caption.Ed and TalkType are used by many educators, professionals, and businesses to reduce meeting fatigue, improve communication, and make everyday interactions more inclusive.
As we grow, the role data and AI play in how we operate, make decisions, and support customers is becoming increasingly important - and that's where you come in.
*Where you come in*
We're looking for an experienced, hands-on Data & AI Lead to establish and grow CareScribe's data and AI capability as we move into our next phase of growth.
This role combines strategic thinking with hands-on delivery. You'll set direction and standards while remaining close to the work itself - ideal for someone who enjoys building capability from the ground up and wants to shape how data and AI evolve within a growing business.
Partnering closely with our Head of Finance & Operations, and drawing on specialist support from external data consultants, you'll help build the trusted data foundations, reporting capability, and pragmatic AI applications that support better decision-making across the business.
We're still relatively early in our data maturity journey, with reporting and operational data spread across multiple systems. This role offers the opportunity to establish scalable foundations, improve visibility and consistency, and help build an increasingly data-centric culture.
This isn't a pure individual contributor role, and it isn't a purely strategic one either. It's ideal for someone ready to own a discipline end-to-end, comfortable being a sole practitioner today, with the ambition to shape and grow the function as we scale.
Within the first year, we'd expect this role to establish a trusted data platform, improve consistency and confidence in reporting, and deliver an initial wave of practical AI-enabled improvements across operational and business workflows.
*What you'll be doing*
*Data*
* Work cross-functionally to understand how teams operate, spot where data can unlock value, and bring forward solutions that have measurable impact.
* Own and execute CareScribe's data strategy and roadmap, working with the Head of Finance & Operations and external consultants to move us up the maturity curve.
* Build out and maintain our data platform, pipelines, and warehouse - keeping data accurate, accessible, and well-governed as we grow.
* Lead reporting, analytics, and business intelligence across the organisation - from leadership metrics to the dashboards individual teams use to run their work.
* Establish and maintain clear data definitions, governance and standards so everyone works from a single source of truth.
* Introduce self-serve analytics and tooling so teams can answer their own questions - adding support where needed.
* Build data literacy across the business, helping colleagues ask better questions and draw more insight from the data we have.
*AI*
* Establish sensible, lightweight AI governance and responsible-use practices as we scale.
* Work with external consultants to shape the AI roadmap, and lead its delivery across the business.
* Identify and prioritise practical AI use cases - from internal workflow automation to commercial and operational applications.
* Build CareScribe's internal AI maturity through tooling, ways of working, and helping teams understand what's possible.
*About you*
* You have several years' experience in a data role, with a track record of delivering real impact in a business setting.
* You've operated as a functional lead or sole practitioner — owning a discipline end-to-end, setting direction and standards, and being accountable for outcomes rather than just delivery.
* Hands-on technical experience across:
* SQL and data modelling (e.g. dbt or equivalent)
* Cloud data warehouses (e.g. BigQuery, Redshift)
* BI tools (e.g. Looker, Tableau, Power BI, Metabase)
* Ingestion/pipeline tools (e.g. Fivetran, Airbyte, or custom)
* A natural problem-solver - comfortable embedding into an operational domain, getting under the skin of how things work, and shaping data-led solutions that have impact.
* Able to prioritise based on business value over technical interest.
* Practical exposure to applying AI in a business context, and genuine curiosity about where it's heading.
* Excellent communicator, able to translate complex ideas for non-technical audiences.
* Genuinely interested in our mission and the people we build products for.
* Significant experience in data, analytics, or analytics engineering roles, with a track record of building capability and delivering measurable business impact.
*Nice to have *
* Experience working within a SaaS or scaling technology business.
* Exposure to building or evolving a modern data stack in an earlier-stage or greenfield environment.
* Experience working alongside external consultants, implementation partners, or specialist advisors.
*What we offer*
