Mechanical Design Project Leader
to help build it. This is a rare chance to join a small, high-impact team at the ground level. You’ll help shape project execution, system design, and team operations—while benefiting from the support of a global organization with proven technology, established customers, and existing production infrastructure. If you’re energized by ownership, meaningful engineering work, and seeing your designs move from concept to reality, this role is worth a conversation. What You’ll Do Lead mechanical design for robotics and automation projects Coordinate engineering work across mechanical, electrical, and software teams Manage projects from concept and design through build, testing, and delivery Support assembly and testing by troubleshooting design issues in real time Help develop project plans, schedules, and technical proposals Mentor junior engineers and support team growth Join client discussions, design reviews, and key project milestones What You Bring 5-10 years of mechanical design experience in automation, robotics, or machinery Experience leading or coordinating technical projects Strong CAD skills (SolidWorks, Solid Edge, or similar) Ability to balance hands-on design work with project leadership Strong problem-solving skills and comfort in a fast-paced environment Clear communication across teams, functions, and, at times, with clients Why This Role Is Different Ground-floor impact – Help shape a new engineering hub from day one True engineering environment – Design, prototype, and build systems on-site Global collaboration – Partner with experienced engineers in the U.S. and Italy Startup energy, stable backing – High ownership with the support of a global company Growth potential – Join a team expected to expand significantly Additional Details Location: Middleton, MA (north of Boston) Travel: Approximately 15%-30% About Fameccanica Fameccanica is a global machine manufacturer known for designing and building high-speed automated equipment and production systems for consumer goods, hygiene products, and packaging applications.
