Distribution Planning and Analysis Engineer
Leidos Engineering is seeking a (REMOTE) Distribution Planning and Analysis Engineer to join our distribution planning team. The role involves execution of distribution planning, distributed energy resource (DER) interconnection impact, arc flash and coordination studies, distribution protection, and self‑healing systems as project and client needs dictate. Studies are conducted for municipal utilities, investor‑owned utilities, and electric system cooperatives. The position will include some client‑facing work and business development activities. The candidate should possess solid analytical distribution experience, including load flow for both traditional planning studies and studies driven by regulatory compliance requirements, distribution protection system, and self‑healing network configurations. Familiarity with distribution policy and regulatory issues, including arc flash assessments, is a plus.
Background Requirements:
Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering or related engineering degree and 5+ years of experience in wide‑area power system modelling, analysis, and planning (Power Flow, Short Circuit, Protection and Coordination, Arc Flash, Volt/VAR, and Time Series studies on the distribution system).
Experience in a technical role in distribution studies, capable of conducting studies under the direction of a technical supervisor.
Experience with power system modeling and analysis tools including CYME’s CYMDist, MiskSoft’s WindMil, and/or DNV GL’s Synergi.
Experience with Python scripting is a plus.
Strong communication skills (listening, writing, presentation).
Team player, able to work collaboratively with diverse backgrounds and geographic locations.
Must be a U.S. Citizen.
Pay Range:
$69,550.00 – $125,725.00
