Job Description SimIS, in support of the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) Land‑Maritime Norfolk, provides on‑call Program Management Office services for DLA’s Material Operations Support (MOS) application related to material procurement and shipyard operations. We are seeking a part‑time DevOps Engineer to design, implement, and maintain efficient deployment pipelines and system monitoring solutions. The role operates in a Scrum Agile environment, supporting continuous integration and delivery, automation of workflows, and infrastructure management in both on‑premise and cloud environments.
Key Responsibilities
Implement architecture for continuous integration, deployment, and monitoring.
Execute Scrum Agile methodology and implement DevOps practices at the project level.
Serve as administrator of complex technology implementations in a product‑centric environment.
Debug cluster‑based computing architecture.
Use scripting or basic programming skills to solve problems.
Install and administer monitoring and configuration management tools (e.g., TFS, Puppet, Chef, Ansible, Salt, Logical Volume Manager).
10% travel required.
Qualifications
5 years of relevant experience.
BS degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
Experience with Scrum Agile methodology and implementing DevOps practices at project levels.
Experience deploying in on‑premise or cloud environments.
Experience deploying and configuring DevOps services.
Experience with containerization technologies (e.g., LXC, Docker, Rocket, OpenShift).
Cloud certification (e.g., AWS DevOps Engineer, Azure SA, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure).
