About

Our top‑notch lending team seeks a goal‑driven Mortgage Underwriter to evaluate VA, FHA, and conventional loans. The role will examine borrower and property risks, make loan decisions, and serve as subject‑matter expert on underwriting matters.
Responsibilities
Identify, examine, and balance transactional, borrower, and property‑related risks to arrive at a loan decision of approval, suspense, counteroffer, or denial.
Document reasons for approval or rejection of loans and communicate those reasons with clients and loan officers.
Execute specific strategies (e.g., identify who the appropriate individuals are to assist in resolving customer issues, etc.) and answer questions, rework loans to new terms, and determine any additional concerns as necessary.
Determine if there are any risk and/or possible misrepresentation during the loan application review process.
Confirm and clear conditions on loans by ensuring all necessary information is gathered, correct, classified correctly, organized, compliant, and congruent with company policies.
Review all mortgage items and conditions provided by borrowers to ensure all necessary information is included for approval and meets required guidelines utilizing internal and external policies and procedures (e.g., automated underwriting systems like Desktop Underwriter).
Qualifications
Experience with AUS (LP/DU/GUS), Encompass software, and Mortgage Electronic Registration Systems (MERS).
Applicants with an NMLS license preferred; will accept candidates willing to be licensed within 90 days of hire.
Ability to make quality underwriting decisions while maintaining company turn‑time expectations and provide quick and accurate answers on multiple loan project guidelines.
Preference for candidates with SAR and DE licenses and exceptional knowledge of conventional and/or government loan selling and underwriting guidelines (VA, FHA, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, etc.).
At least 5 years of mortgage experience and 2 years of underwriting experience.
Compensation $65,000 per year
