This a full time role for a Telecom Engineer. The Telecom Engineer will be responsible for the design, implementation, and support of telecommunications infrastructure across mission critical and data center environments. Daily tasks include structured cabling design, fiber optic systems, carrier coordination, and collaboration with cross-functional engineering and construction teams to deliver reliable, high-performance telecom solutions. This role will bring currently outsourced telecom scope in-house, giving CFG direct ownership over a critical discipline. Role is considered remote, but requires approximately (Does this require travel?) travel to project site locations for site walks, construction observation, and commissioning milestones. Responsibilities
Design and document telecom infrastructure including fiber optic, copper, structured cabling (OSP/ISP), and wireless systems for data center and mission critical facilities Manage carrier relationships, circuit provisioning, and service-level coordination Configure and oversee installation of network equipment including switches, routers, patch panels, and distribution systems Review submittals, RFIs, and contractor proposed change orders related to telecom scope Support commissioning, testing, and turnover of telecom systems on new builds and retrofit projects Conduct site observations and assist in construction administration activities Maintain accurate documentation including as-builts, rack diagrams, cable schedules, and test records Coordinate with project managers, MEP engineers, and clients on telecom design and execution Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or related field; equivalent field experience considered 5+ years of experience in telecom engineering within data center, colocation, or mission critical environments Strong knowledge of structured cabling systems and BICSI standards, fiber optic systems, and carrier circuit management Proficiency with telecom design tools and documentation software; AutoCAD or Revit experience a plus Familiar with all related codes, standards, and regulatory requirements Strong analytical skills and attention to detail Effective communication skills with project teams and clients Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications Experience working in live data center environments with strict change control processes Other Desirable Credentials
RCDD (Registered Communications Distribution Designer) — BICSI CCNA or equivalent networking certification
