About

Rockstar is recruiting for an innovative education technology company focused on streamlining school scheduling. They are a dynamic team dedicated to improving administrative workflows through seamless data integration.
Type: Contract / Project-Based (~10 hours total to start)
Location: Remote
Ideal Background: We welcome applicants from district IT backgrounds, specific SISs, or ed-tech vendors who have worked with these systems directly on data integration
About the Role The company is looking for experienced student information systems (SIS) practitioners to help advance integrations between student information systems and the scheduling application. This is a part-time, consulting contract role. The consultant will work directly with the integration team members to deepen the understanding of the SISs worked with, and will be expected to provide recommendations on how to improve the integrations for these SISs.
The ideal candidate has done this work in the real world: pulling data from a live SIS, navigating edge cases in scheduling configurations and downstream workflows, and troubleshooting sync issues before they become problems for end users.
Required Experience The ideal candidate will have hands‑on administrative or technical experience with one or more of the following SIS platforms:
Synergy
Focus
Aeries
Skyward SMS 2.0
Deep familiarity with scheduling modules — how courses, sections, and terms are structured and how that data flows to external systems
Experience with data exchange between these SISs and 3rd parties via API or SFTP (e.g., Aeries API, Skybuild XML templates, OneRoster exports)
Understanding of how SIS changes (schedule edits, enrollment updates, student status changes) affect downstream workflows (eg: grading, attendance, transcripts)
Ability to answer technical questions about integrations and provide feedback to the team on strategies to design and scale
Availability during peak of scheduling season at end of academic year/start of summer (February-July)
