About
Experienced sUAS operators and instructors are invited to serve as cadre for the MIRC sUAS Master Trainer Program’s Advanced Course (Module 2). The 3‑week intensive curriculum transforms basic sUAS operators into certified Master Trainers capable of integrating drone operations across the Intelligence and Protection Warfighting Functions.
Instructors deliver hands‑on training in FPV tactical flight, ISR collection and PED, electronic warfare fundamentals, counter‑UAS operations, and integrated field exercises including a 72‑hour culminating scenario. The role requires flying, planning missions, running live exercises, and mentoring soldiers under field conditions.
You will work in a two‑person instructor team per cohort, cross‑covering FPV strike, Intelligence/EW, and safety duties. When not deployed to a cohort, you will contribute to curriculum development, equipment maintenance, and Module 1 instruction as needed.
Core Responsibilities Instruction and Training Delivery
Deliver all Module 2 training blocks: Intelligence WfF (ISR planning, live collection, PED/targeting), Protection WfF (FPV strike, EW degradation drills, C‑UAS), and the Integrated Field Exercise.
Serve as lead or assistant instructor for assigned blocks based on individual expertise. Cross‑train with co‑instructor to provide coverage across all blocks.
Plan and execute the 72‑hour “Black Swan” culminating exercise, including scenario development, inject management, and observer/controller duties.
Conduct all phase gate assessments: Intelligence practical exam, Protection practical exam, IFX evaluation, and Master Trainer oral board.
Provide real‑time coaching and mentorship to soldiers during flight operations, field exercises, and mission planning.
Flight Operations
Demonstrate advanced FPV flight techniques including non‑stabilized tactical maneuvering, building penetration, terrain following, and simulated strike profiles.
Operate GPS‑stabilized sUAS platforms for ISR collection demonstrations and student evaluation.
Serve as range safety officer during flight operations. Enforce airspace procedures, manage emergency protocols, and maintain accountability of all aircraft.
Perform pre‑flight inspections, field‑expedient maintenance, and fleet management for all training aircraft.
Curriculum and Program Development
Contribute to continuous curriculum improvement based on student performance data, lessons learned, and evolving threat intelligence.
Develop and update training scenarios, exercise injects, and assessment rubrics between cohorts.
Monitor developments in sUAS warfare (Ukraine, Pacific theater TTPs) and incorporate relevant innovations into training.
Administrative
Maintain training records, assessment scorecards, and certification documentation for all students.
Prepare after‑action reports for each cohort. Document equipment status, attrition rates, and maintenance requirements.
Coordinate with customer (MIRC) leadership on training schedules, facility requirements, and airspace authorizations.

Minimum 4 years active duty or reserve military service in a combat arms, military intelligence, or special operations MOS/AFSC. Honorable discharge or currently serving.

FAA Certification:
Must hold a current FAA UAS (Part 107) certification.
Instruction Experience:
Minimum 1 year experience as a military instructor, trainer, or cadre in any formal training program (schoolhouse, unit training, OTC, etc.). Must be comfortable teaching, coaching, and evaluating adult learners.
Security Clearance:
Active Secret clearance. Must be obtainable within 90 days of hire if not currently held.
