Signal Processing
What is Signal Processing
Signal processing refers to a field in electrical engineering that analyses, modifies and synthesises signals such as sound and images.
A digital signal is an electrical signal that is converted into patterns of bits. Algorithms in mathematics and computational science are used to produce better quality signals. Digital Signal Processing (DSP) is the use of digital processing – for example, by a computer or specialised digital signal processors – to perform a variety of operations.
DSP is utilised in domains such as the processing of speech, audio signal, and financial signals. The compression of speech is also one of the applications of DSP.
