Hibernate

What is Hibernate

Hibernate is a free and open-source software programmed in Java.

It was created by Red Hat, Inc. in 2001, and is an object-relational mapping (ORM) tool for the Java programming language. Hibernate provides a framework that allows users to map an object-oriented model to a relational database. Some of its advantages are that it maps Java classes to database tables via XML files (meaning no code writing is required), it provides simple APIs to store and retrieve Java objects from the database, and it can operate without an application server.

The main databases that Hibernate supports are DB2, Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Sybase, or SQL Server.
