About

Business Analyst Location: Houston, TX
Employment Type: Full-Time
Compensation: $85,000-100,000 + benefits
About the Opportunity A growing technology-focused organization is seeking a collaborative and analytical Business Analyst to join its team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving complex business challenges, working directly with customers, and partnering with software development teams to create thoughtful, user-centered solutions.
As a Business Analyst, you'll serve as the bridge between customers and developers—gaining a deep understanding of business processes, identifying opportunities for improvement, and translating those insights into clear requirements and functional designs that drive successful software development.
If you're naturally curious, enjoy asking the right questions, and thrive in a collaborative environment, we'd love to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities Customer Discovery & Business Analysis
Partner with customers and internal stakeholders to understand business processes, operational workflows, and business objectives.
Observe how users interact with software applications to identify inefficiencies, pain points, and opportunities for improvement.
Ask thoughtful, strategic questions to uncover root causes, edge cases, and long-term solutions rather than simply documenting requested features.
Build strong relationships with customers to ensure their needs are accurately understood and represented.
Requirements Gathering & Solution Design
Translate business needs into clear, organized, and actionable functional requirements.
Define expected system behavior from both the user and business perspectives.
Evaluate customer requests while balancing usability, scalability, and existing system capabilities.
Recommend practical solutions that improve business outcomes and user experience.
Documentation & Process Design
Create functional specifications, workflow documentation, process maps, and user stories.
Develop wireframes, mockups, and process diagrams when appropriate.
Document business rules, system interactions, acceptance criteria, and edge cases.
Maintain accurate project documentation throughout the development lifecycle.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work closely with software developers, QA teams, and project stakeholders to ensure requirements are well understood and technically feasible.
Break larger initiatives into manageable features and user stories.
Clarify requirements throughout development and participate in solution reviews.
Support testing efforts by validating that completed solutions meet business expectations.
Qualifications Required
Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
3+ years of experience as a Business Analyst, Systems Analyst, Product Analyst, or similar role.
Experience gathering business requirements and documenting functional specifications.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities while working collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
Experience creating process flows, workflow diagrams, or user stories.
Preferred
Experience working within Agile or Scrum software development environments.
Familiarity with wireframing or diagramming tools such as Lucidchart, Visio, Figma, or similar platforms.
Experience working directly with software development teams.
Knowledge of business process improvement methodologies.
What We Offer
Competitive compensation based on experience
Comprehensive health, dental, and vision benefits
Paid time off and holidays
Retirement savings plan with company contribution
Professional development and career growth opportunities
Collaborative, team-oriented work environment
Opportunity to make a meaningful impact on customer experience and software innovation
If you're passionate about understanding how businesses operate, improving user experiences, and helping build software solutions that solve real-world problems, we encourage you to apply.
