Resident Engineer - Building Construction Location: Dublin City Centre Sector: Building Construction Employment Type: Contract - 2.5 years duration Salary: €65,000 - €85,000, negotiable depending on experience Role introduction and overview: We are seeking a Resident Engineer - Building Construction for a major construction project based in Dublin City Centre. This contract opportunity will suit an engineering professional with experience overseeing site activities, monitoring quality, and ensuring works are delivered in line with design requirements, specifications, and relevant standards. Working on a large building construction project - the construction of a new five-storey City Library and various cultural spaces in six restored Georgian houses connected to the sitethe successful candidate will play an important site-based role supporting inspection, compliance, quality assurance, and progress observation throughout the delivery phase. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to a significant city-centre development while providing clear, accurate, and contemporaneous records to support project and contract administration. Key Responsibilities as Resident Engineer / Senor Resident Engineer: Carry out site inspections to verify the works are completed in accordance with the Works Requirements, drawings, specifications, and applicable standards Monitor workmanship and materials to ensure alignment with the Employer's Design Review test certificates, approvals, and material samples to confirm compliance with contract requirements Maintain accurate site inspection records, including photographs and non-conformance reports Identify and record defects, departures from specification, and workmanship concerns Report inspection findings and quality issues to the ER in a clear and timely manner Provide factual, contemporaneous evidence to support contract administration activities Observe progress of the works against the project programme Highlight workmanship, sequencing, or site delivery issues that may impact quality or long-term durability Essential Skills, Qualifications and Experience as Resident Engineer / Senor Resident Engineer Degree in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering Experience in a Resident Engineer role or similar site supervision / site inspection position Strong understanding of building construction methods, quality standards, and compliance requirements Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, and technical documentation accurately Experience reviewing workmanship, materials, certificates, approvals, and samples on site Good record-keeping and reporting skills, with the ability to produce clear inspection evidence and documentation Strong attention to detail and the confidence to raise non-conformances or quality concerns where required Ability to monitor site progress and identify issues that may affect programme, quality, or durability Effective communication skills for liaising with project stakeholders on site How to apply: If you believe this Resident Engineer - Building Construction role aligns with your experience, please apply via the button provided.
