Job Type Classification: Non Exempt Job Summary The MRI technologist will work with the radiologist and fellow staff members to prepare patients and operate magnetic resonance equipment in order to obtain diagnostic scans. The MRI technologist works under general supervision in performing a variety of exams and procedures according to departmental protocol, as requested by physician order. The technologist will position the patient's body part for imaging and set appropriate technical factors on the imaging equipment with a high degree of competency to ensure production of quality images for interpretation by the radiologist. Qualifications Education: High School Diploma or GED required. Graduate of an accredited school for Magnetic Resonance Imaging. Experience: 2 years of healthcare experience preferred. Refer to the Life Support Training Policy for additional details. Licensure: ARRT or ARMRIT Registered in MRI, or eligible. Registry must be completed within 12 months of hire. Additional Skills/Requirements Required: Demonstrates proficiency in verbal and written communications. Ability to work in a stressful environment. Ability to multitask and proficient in MRI safety. Patient Care: Ensures patient safety and comfort while in the radiology department. Teamwork: Works within a team to achieve patient and team goals. Technical Competency: Follows routine standards and properly and safely manipulates equipment, within its limitations, to obtain images.
The incumbent may be asked to perform additional duties as assigned. Physical Demands Physical Demand Code: Medium to Heavy Physical Demand: The job requires constant standing, frequently walking, and bending/stooping.
