Position Description The Quantity Surveyor role within the Contracting Partners Group (CPG) of ESB Networks (ESBN) will encompass all aspects of quantity surveying and cost management for our full range of civil and electrical engineering projects including High Voltage Electrical substation construction and refurbishment, Trenching, Ducting & Cabling works, Overhead Lines as well as supporting the tendering, evaluation and implementation of various framework contracts within CPG. The role will involve close liaison with Senior Quantity Surveyors and other design professionals, clients and contractors. Key Responsibilities The responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to: Cost management function throughout all stages of a project including preparation of estimates, bills of quantities, management of contractor payments, assessment of variations and agreement of final account. Preparation of framework tender documentation, involvement in pre-qualification and tender evaluations including liaising with ESBN Procurement function. Carry out data analysis on historic projects/work programmes to facilitate lessons learned and supporting of budgeting information for future work programmes. Forecasting and monitoring of OPEX and CAPEX programmes. Promoting the safety management culture across all activities demonstrating visible commitment to safety. Assist with mentoring and professional development of junior staff Tender assessment, evaluation and negotiation Report writing and interpretation Knowledge, Skills and Experience Essential Minimum Quantity Surveying experience of 5 years (Post Qualification) is essential Self-motivation and ability to manage own work and co-ordinate with those working alongside him/her Ability to make quality decisions and judgements with a logical yet imaginative approach to problem solving Ability to work and share knowledge within a team structure A clear focus on delivery of high-quality work Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Excellent report writing skills Proven record of being results driven and customer oriented A flexible approach to work, including travel nationally where required Knowledge of the administration of main conditions of contract including FIDIC Conditions of Contract and New Engineering Contract (NEC) or similar Desirable Experience in Civil Engineering / Utility / Electrical / Overhead Lines projects would be advantageous Experience with SAP and SharePoint Advanced Excel Skills Qualifications Essential Level 8 Degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent qualification (of a minimum of 5 years) is essential Full Irish/EU driving license and access to a car Desirable MRICS/MSCSI qualified, with legal registration under the Building Control Act 2007 Location Dublin/Portlaoise/Limerick/Cork/Athlone/Sligo Smart Working at ESB is designed to make 'in-person' time together as purposeful as possible while also enabling the effective use of digital tools and hybrid arrangements to preserve our commitment to flexibility. The successful candidate may work flexibly within thejurisdictionwhere they have been employed, with attendance at the workplace for in-person collaborationat least two days per week.
