*Service Technician*
_Department:_ Service
_Reports to:_ Service Manager or Location Manager
_Supervises__*:*_ None
*Purpose*
Independently performs complex diagnostics, service repairs and maintenance work on customer and/or dealer-owned equipment such as John Deere, Caterpillar, New Holland, Case IH, Bobcat farm and construction equipment.
*Responsibilities*
* Performs repairs and maintenance on all makes and models of equipment
* Maintains current knowledge of all brands offered as well as competitive products
* Maintains a clean work area and performs work in a neat and orderly fashion
* Completes all reports and forms required in conjunction with work assignments
* Accounts for all time within DMS and for all material used in performing assigned duties
* May perform diagnosis and repair in the field
* Interacts in a positive and respectful manner with customers and fellow employees
* Participates in John Deere training programs required for the development of skills and knowledge
* Actively assists in recruiting service work
* Shares knowledge and skills with other company technicians
* Maintains and promotes a safe work environment. Demonstrates understanding of and ability to follow all safety rules and regulations in performing work assignments
* Performs other duties as assigned
*Experience, Education, Skills and Knowledge*
* 2+ years of professional experience performing service repairs in a business setting or certificate/diploma from a recognized program
* Ability to perform repairs and required maintenance using special tools and equipment following Technical Manual procedures
* Significant knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems used in the repair of Diesel engines, turf equipment and handheld power equipment
* Ability to operate vehicles and equipment used for diagnostic purposes
* Ability to use a forklift/skid loader, forklift certification preferred
* Proficient oral and written communication skills
* Basic Service Technician certification preferred
* Must have an adequate toolset to perform job responsibilities
