Software Engineer - Content Platform Kibu is seeking a talented and driven Software Engineer to play a key role in building and optimizing the content side of our platform. This is the engine behind Kibu's 500+ life skills, job skills, and recreational classes, daily livestreams, interactive tools like Kibu Jeopardy and coloring pages, and ready-to-use lesson plans for disability service providers. In this role, you'll focus on making Kibu's content experience seamless, engaging, and accessible for both providers and the individuals they serve. This is a unique opportunity to work at a fast-paced startup where your ideas and expertise will directly influence the product and the lives of those who rely on it. We're looking for someone with a strong foundation in React and TypeScript (4+ years of experience), and hands-on experience building user-facing features that deliver rich media and interactive content. In this role, your expertise will help shape how we deliver educational content at scale, optimize livestream infrastructure, build interactive learning tools, and create an experience that keeps learners and providers coming back. This position is hybrid with 2-3 days expected in our Stamford, CT office. Remote work is available for highly qualified candidates. What You’ll Do: Develop, maintain, and enhance the content side of Kibu's platform using React, TypeScript, and related technologies Build and optimize the systems that power Kibu's class library, lesson plans, and content discovery experience for providers and learners Improve and scale Kibu's livestream infrastructure to support 5+ daily streams and growing audience engagement Develop interactive tools and features such as Kibu Jeopardy, coloring pages, and short stories that make learning engaging, accessible, and personalized Integrate and optimize AI-powered tools to enhance content recommendations, personalization, and learner engagement Work closely with the content and product teams to brainstorm and implement new features that elevate the learning experience Ensure the content platform is accessible, performant, and delivers a great experience across devices Act as a technical resource for the team, strengthening our content delivery infrastructure and sharing knowledge Contribute to high-level discussions on product direction, user experience, and feature prioritization for the content platform Collaborate cross-functionally with other teams to align engineering efforts with Kibu's mission and goals Key Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree At least 4 years of experience in software engineering 4+ years of experience in React and TypeScript, with a deep understanding of modern web development practices 3+ years of experience with NextJs or other serverless infrastructure Experience building features that involve video, media playback, livestreaming, or rich interactive content Familiarity with developing production ready AI features using LLMs, LangChain, and vector stores Proven ability to quickly learn and adapt to new codebases, frameworks, and tools Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to improving product quality and user experience Excited to work in a small team, own projects, and help Kibu grow Preferred Qualifications Experience in a startup environment or small, fast-moving team 2+ years working with Expo and React Native Experience with video infrastructure, HLS/DASH streaming, or real-time communication tools such as WebRTC or LiveKit Familiarity with content management systems, media asset pipelines, or content delivery networks (CDNs) Experience building accessible, WCAG-compliant interfaces Background working on EdTech, digital learning, or content delivery platforms Kibu is an equal opportunity employer.
