Research Assistant: Blue Economy Innovation Role Overview We are seeking a motivated and highly organised Research Assistant to support the delivery of the Interreg Northern Periphery and Arctic (NPA) BIO-2-PRINT project, while also contributing to a wider portfolio of Blue Economy and regional development projects. These projects focus on advancing sustainable innovation across marine, bioeconomy, and circular economy sectors, with a strong emphasis on collaboration between research institutions, industry partners, and regional stakeholders. The successful candidate will play an important role in supporting project coordination, reporting, communications, and stakeholder engagement activities. Working closely with the project team and international partners, the Research Assistant will contribute to the implementation of project activities, the preparation of reports and deliverables, and the organisation of events and outreach initiatives that support knowledge exchange and regional innovation. Key Responsibilities Support the delivery of the BIO-2-PRINT Interreg project and contribute to other Blue Economy and bioeconomy initiatives within the research group. Assist with the preparation of project reports, deliverables, and presentations, ensuring high-quality written outputs aligned with Interreg programme requirements. Support the administration and maintenance of the project platform, including uploading project information, resources, and innovation case studies. Assist in the organisation and delivery of project events, workshops, and stakeholder meetings, both in-person and online, including logistics, coordination with partners, and event documentation. Contribute to communications and dissemination activities, including website updates, social media content, newsletters, and promotional materials. Support education, training, and outreach activities, including the development of learning materials, stakeholder engagement initiatives, and participation in conferences or public events. Liaise with project partners and external stakeholders across the blue economy, bioeconomy, and regional innovation sectors. Provide general project administration and coordination support, including meeting organisation, documentation, and tracking of project activities and outputs. Candidate Criteria The ideal candidate will be a proactive and detail-oriented individual with a strong interest in sustainability, the blue economy, and regional innovation. They will demonstrate the ability to produce high-quality written outputs, engage effectively with diverse stakeholders, and contribute positively to collaborative international research projects. Essential Criteria A primary degree (Level 8 or equivalent) in a relevant field such as environmental science, marine science, sustainability, economics, regional development, or a related discipline. Knowledge of or experience in Blue Economy, bioeconomy, or regional development initiatives, particularly those linked to EU programmes such as Interreg or Horizon Europe. Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare professional reports, presentations, and dissemination materials. Strong organisational and project coordination skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines. Experience supporting events, workshops, or stakeholder engagement activities. Proficiency in standard digital tools including Microsoft Office, online collaboration platforms, and communications. Desirable Experience Experience working on EU-funded research or regional development projects. Familiarity with blue economy sectors such as fisheries, aquaculture, marine innovation, or coastal development. Experience in digital platforms, knowledge management systems, or innovation mapping tools. Experience with science communication, outreach, or stakeholder engagement.
