About

*Business Systems & Automation Specialist*
*Location:* Mansfield, Nottinghamshire (Office-based)
*Salary:* Competitive + Progression
*Reports To:* Managing Director
*This isn't a standard tech role. It isn't a standard operations role either. It's both.*
Link Integrated Security is a national security and fire systems business working with some of the UK's most recognised brands. We install and maintain fire detection, CCTV, access control, EAS, intruder systems, RFID across thousands of commercial sites nationwide. No domestic work. All enterprise level.
We're a fast-growing business with clear, ambitious plans to scale significantly over the coming years. The leadership team has set the ambition. Now we need to build the infrastructure that makes it possible.
That's where you come in.
*This Is A Business Role As Much As A Technical One*
The person we're looking for will sit at the intersection of commercial performance, operational delivery, and technology. Not a tech person who occasionally talks to the business. Not an ops person who dabbles in systems. Someone who genuinely operates across all three.
You'll understand why we win and lose clients. You'll know what our most profitable service lines are and why. You'll understand how pricing decisions affect margin, how operational inefficiency affects cash flow, and how the data we capture today drives the decisions we make tomorrow.
The technology you build will only be valuable if you understand the commercial and operational problems it's solving.
*The Problem You'll Solve*
We run three core platforms - Uptick (field service ERP), HubSpot (sales CRM), and Xero (accounting). They're connected, and we have solid foundations. But like any ambitious, fast-growing business, the infrastructure hasn't always kept pace with the growth. We want to change that - and we want the right person to help us build something that scales.
We know exactly what needs building. We need the right person to build it.
*What You'll Actually Do*
This role operates across three dimensions simultaneously:
*Commercially*
* Understand the strategic priorities of the business
* Learn how we price, how we sell, and how we retain clients
* Understand client profitability- not just revenue, but what each client actually costs us to service
* Identify commercial opportunities and inefficiencies from the data you build and own
* Work directly alongside the MD on business intelligence and growth initiatives
*Operationally*
* Understand how jobs flow from sale through to delivery and invoicing
* Work with the engineering, projects, finance, and sales teams to understand their processes
* Identify where operational bottlenecks exist and build solutions that remove them
* Ensure that the way we capture data in the field reflects the commercial reality of the business
*Technically*
* Audit how data flows through Uptick, HubSpot, and Xero and identify where it can be improved
* Build a Microsoft Power BI (or similar) data centre integrating all three systems into a single live dashboard
* Deliver the reporting infrastructure that tells us in real time how the business is performing - job profitability, engineer utilisation, client value, recurring revenue, pipeline conversion
* Identify and automate the manual processes that slow the business down
* Build and maintain integrations between systems as the business grows
The systems you'll work with:
* Uptick (field service ERP)
* HubSpot (sales CRM)
* Xero (accounting)
* Microsoft Power BI
* Power Automate and Power Apps
* APIs and custom integrations
* Python / SQL
* AI tools via Microsoft Azure / OpenAI
*The Bigger Opportunity*
This role has a ceiling only if you put one on it.
In year one you'll be building the systems and developing the commercial and operational knowledge that underpins them. In year two you'll be using that knowledge to actively drive business decisions alongside senior leadership. By year three the right person could be operating at a level that takes most people a decade to reach.
We'll invest in your commercial development as seriously as your technical development. You won't be handed a narrow brief and left to get on with it. You'll be in the room where decisions are made, understanding why they're made, and building the tools that make them better.
*What We're Looking For*
*Technical (Non-Negotiable)*
* Comfortable working with APIs and data pipelines
* Experience with or strong understanding of Microsoft Power BI or similar BI tools
* Ability to build automations (Power Automate, Make, Zapier, or custom builds)
* Able to work with real-world data and make it clean and useful
* Python, SQL, or similar
*Commercial & Operational (Equally Non-Negotiable)*
* Genuinely curious about how businesses make money and where they lose it
* Able to sit in a room with the Directors and understand what each of them actually needs
* Wants to understand the why behind every process, not just the how
* Can translate commercial problems into technical solutions and technical findings into commercial language
* Comfortable presenting findings and recommendations to senior members of the team
*Mindset*
* Wants to be present in the business and not isolated in a technical silo
* Takes ownership without being told to
* Builds first, perfects later
* Comfortable with ambiguity - not everything will be clearly defined
* Ambitious - this role is a launchpad, not a landing spot
You don't need a specific degree. You don't need ten years of experience. You need to demonstrate that you can think commercially, build technically, and learn fast.
*What This Role Is Not*
* A pure research or academic AI position
* A prompt engineering role
* A software development role with no business interaction
* A role where you maintain what already exists
* A role where the technical work happens in isolation from the commercial reality
This is a role for someone who enjoys solving practical problems, building things that didn't exist before, and seeing their work change how a real business operates.
*The Honest Part*
This business has never had a role like this before. That means you'll be building from scratch, with real responsibility, in an environment that moves fast. There will be days where the brief is less defined than you'd like and the challenge bigger than expected.
If that sounds frustrating, this probably isn't the right role for you.
If that sounds like exactly the kind of challenge you've been looking for, we'd like to hear from you.
*How To Apply*
Send your CV to jdl@linkintegrated.com along with a short paragraph - no more than ten lines -telling us specifically what in this advert resonated with you and what you would bring to this role.
We are not interested in generic cover letters. Tell us something specific. Show us how you think.
A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle is essential.
