About
About The Role As a Senior Software Engineer on the Data Systems Engineering team, you will embed directly with exploration geologists and data scientists, develop data pipelines, and own projects from design to implementation, ensuring mining data is accessible to humans and machines.
Responsibilities
Deep engagement with exploration geologists and data scientists, continually learning about mineral exploration and tailoring technology to their needs
Build data pipelines and tooling for deriving advanced insights from exploration data, often leading a small group of software engineers to delivery
Develop expertise in KoBold’s Data Systems and understand their impact on exploration
Own projects end‑to‑end, from design to implementation, testing, and continued engagement with exploration teams using your solutions
Respond well to design and code feedback, providing input to teammates
Operationally manage the team’s services and assist scientific colleagues with our tooling
Qualifications
4+ years of software engineering experience, ideally building production cloud data systems
Proficiency with Python
Deliver production‑quality code that is correct, readable, well‑tested, scalable, and extensible
Experience with large‑scale system design
Track record of taking ownership from problem definition to impact‑driven delivery
Intellectual curiosity and eagerness to learn about mineral exploration and geology
Strong communicator, comfortable collaborating with non‑software domain experts

Focus on building the product that best achieves business objectives
Nice to Have
Modern front‑end framework experience (React)
Geospatial data and map‑based experience
Containerization and orchestration knowledge (Docker, Kubernetes, AWS ECS, etc.)
Formal education or experience in natural sciences
The US base salary range for this full‑time exempt position is $175,000 – $210,000.
Location: Remote – Candidates can be located anywhere in the United States or Canada. All candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States or Canada.
