Your new company A privately owned, profitable Irish manufacturing business with a long trading history and a strong, stable financial position is seeking to appoint a Financial Controller. Operating from an expanding production facility and exporting the majority of its output internationally, the company specialises in high-value, technical manufacturing solutions. Ongoing investment in product development, systems and manufacturing capability underpins a clear growth strategy while maintaining prudent financial role forms part of a planned succession within the finance function and offers a senior, hands-on finance professional the opportunity to become a key member of the leadership team in a well-run, financially sound organisation. Your new role You will work closely with the Finance Director, who will provide comprehensive guidance and support as part of a clearly defined succession plan. The Financial Controller will work closely with the Managing Director and Finance Director, playing a key role within the senior leadership team and contributing to strategic and operational decision-making. The role partners extensively with operations, production, engineering and technical teams, providing commercial insight, cost analysis and financial support across manufacturing, development and project activities. Strong relationships will also be maintained with external auditors, advisors, banks and insurers, ensuring robust governance and financial discipline. Key ResponsibilitiesFinancial Control & Reporting Full responsibility for monthly management accounts, including multi-currency reporting Preparation of annual statutory accounts and liaison with auditors and external advisors Oversight of group accounting across operating and holding entities Cashflow forecasting, bank liaison and working capital management Responsibility for VAT, payroll oversight, insurance and statutory compliance Lead the annual budgeting and rolling forecast process Detailed cost analysis, margin reporting and product-level profitability Financial evaluation of capital expenditure and manufacturing investment Provide commercial insight to support pricing, contracts and long-term planning Strong engagement with the manufacturing and operations functions Financial oversight of contractor-led and project-based works Ownership and development of the accounting system (Sage 200 experience advantageous) Strengthen financial controls and reporting processes Build scalable systems to support future growth and complexity Manage, mentor and develop the finance team Promote strong financial discipline and collaboration across the business What you'll need to succeed Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) Ideally, experience in a manufacturing, engineering or operationally focused business Proven track record in financial control, management, accounting, budgeting and forecasting Ability to act as a commercial partner to senior leadership and operational teams A hands-on, practical approach with strong attention to detail Confidence to operate in a privately owned, owner-managed environment Strong communication skills and the credibility to influence across functions You will also bring a collaborative mindset and learning orientation, benefiting from close support and guidance from the Finance Director as part of a planned and structured succession, enabling a smooth transition and long-term progression within the role.
