  1. Analyse the client’s wishes and requirements and pass them on to their creative production teams.
  2. Propose an artistic direction, observe, analyse and select the best projects from the designers.
  3. Present and defend the projects to the customer, explaining strategy and methods while justifying choices.
  4. Give artistic impetus to the chosen projects by leading and guiding the teams (individual expertise, brainstorming, suggestions, etc.).
  5. Foster creativity within the team.
  6. Think through all facets of the game, developing a virtual universe that is accomplished, innovative, and coherent, without neglecting any aspect of the story, settings, characters, or situations.
Skills and Knowledge

Creative directors need a thorough knowledge of the video game market (keeping abreast of developments, social networking trends, and user behaviour) and of new technologies with contemporary components to create a successful game.

They must be passionate, creative, imaginative, innovative, and forward-thinking, as well as methodical in project management.

Strong conviction and the ability to communicate effectively in personal relationships are essential, particularly when defending projects in front of clients. The ability to communicate artistic choices convincingly is crucial.

This job is accessible after significant experience in the video game industry, typically following a recognised training course in video games.

Salary and Career Development

The salary of a junior creative director is around €1,950. Salaries for more experienced positions are estimated to be between €42,000 and €60,000 (minimum €20,000 – maximum €92,000 – median salary: €31,000).

Depending on skills and opportunities, Creative Directors may consider moving up to CEO/General Manager.
