Description Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems is seeking a Principal or Senior Principal Engineer Software (Cyber Engineer) to join the team in Melbourne, FL. The role involves applying technical expertise in solving complex integration problems, coordinating with program management, suppliers, and government customers. Responsibilities include containerization, securing applications, OS hardening, network security, and maintaining software infrastructure.
Essential Functions
Advise on integration of new emerging industry technologies to the program’s systems
Review, analyze, and incorporate technical requirements into end-to-end system architectures
Implement network configurations as designed, and coordinate with peers, SMEs, and government engineers on hardening and securing the system as a whole
Occasional travel may be required
Work with various team members to integrate functionality with other software components
Support software working groups with the customer
Develop and share technical documentation and presentations
Basic Qualifications
Principal level (T03): Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline and 5+ years experience in software engineering OR Master’s in STEM and 3+ years OR PhD in STEM with relevant experience
Senior Principal level (T04): Bachelor’s in STEM with at least 8 years experience, or Master’s in STEM with 6 years, or PhD in STEM with 4 years
Current DOD 8570 IAT Level II or greater certification (Security+)
Able to obtain and maintain DoD Top Secret clearance (interim required to start)
Experience with Agile, Atlassian tool suite (plugins, Git, Confluence), developing software in Linux and Windows, OOP languages
Experience remote debugging hardware/software systems
Experience with firewall, VPN, switch, router configuration, and configuration of Cisco, Palo Alto, Juniper network appliances
Experience with authentication and data encryption methods, securing communications at datalink or network layer
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with containerization technologies, container orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes)
Experience with net-booting, overlay file systems, virtualization technology (VirtualBox, QEMU, KVM, vSphere)
Experience with scripting (Bash, Python)
Experience with Linux IP stack, network security (SELinux, CIPSO, SECMARK)
Experience with multilevel security solutions, Cisco, Palo Alto, Juniper
Experience with Agile best practices, tasking, accountability, interception, process enforcement
Current DOD 8570 IAT Level II or greater certification (Security+)
DoD Top Secret Clearance
Salary Range Primary Level: $98,400.00 – $147,600.00 Secondary Level: $122,800.00 – $184,200.00
