Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Systems Administrator to support a technology‑driven program within a federal defense environment. This position is available on‑site in Tacoma, WA. This is a direct‑hire opportunity supporting a mission focused on secure systems operations and infrastructure modernization.
The Systems Administrator will manage, maintain, and optimize enterprise systems while supporting users, infrastructure, and security requirements across a dynamic technical environment. This role requires strong operating system expertise, networking fundamentals, virtualization experience, and scripting capability.
Responsibilities
Administer and maintain Windows and/or Linux operating systems across enterprise environments.
Manage and troubleshoot system performance, availability, and configuration issues.
Implement and support core networking services including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VPN technologies.
Support virtualization platforms such as VMware or Hyper‑V.
Develop and maintain automation scripts using PowerShell, Bash, or Python.
Collaborate with technical teams to ensure secure, stable, and efficient system operations.
Provide system support in both independent and team‑based environments.
Qualifications
3+ years of professional system administration experience.
Strong understanding of Windows or Linux operating systems.
Knowledge of networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VPN.
Experience with virtualization technologies such as VMware or Hyper‑V.
Strong analytical, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, related field, or equivalent experience.
Active Secret Clearance (must be current).
Compensation
Salary Range: $70,000 - $85,000 (depending on experience)
