Always verify the specimen is appropriate for tests ordered Always place "date received" on all reagents and supplies Always check for expired dates and discard when expired Properly utilize sharp containers for disposal of needles and syringes Continually keep up with updates required by department Order and process tests on outpatients as they come in Perform drug screen collections as they come in Collect samples at the Nursing Home when needed Collection of patients in the Emergency Department and patient rooms Collection of blood samples using the appropriate technique for infants, adolescent, adult, and geriatric
Maintain the laboratory collection area and trays neat, clean, and well supplied Responsible for safety of patients and self during all laboratory procedures Use laboratory equipment, supplies, and time in the most efficient manner possible Ensure that all written information is neat and clear Maintain education and development appropriate for position Adhere to established hospital and department guidelines and protocols
