Job Summary
Senior DevOps Engineering Manager will be responsible for supporting Cat Digital and Cat Technology engineering and AI team to deliver consistent, reliable, and secure infrastructure in the cloud for running simulations and services supporting physical AI and Digital Twins. The DevOps manager will be responsible for collaborating with data collection teams, simulation teams, and architecture teams to effectively adhere to development standards and deliver cost‑effective capabilities and applications in the cloud. Responsibilities
Lead team(s) of high‑performing cloud engineering professionals and projects related to supporting the development lifecycle and cloud resources for Cat Digital. Accountable for hiring, managing, and mentoring a team or multiple teams of software engineers in delivering the common department goals. Lead team(s) that will manage world‑class cloud‑implemented solutions. Implement common operating procedures to provide process functionality and the requisite infrastructure to enable effective, efficient, and economical services. Direct the implementation of cloud infrastructure components to maximize common processes and minimize costs by efficiently controlling the cloud infrastructure environment. Carefully evaluate problems and provide input into a large number of possible solutions before selecting one option. Follow general policies and guidelines for projects under his/her control to ensure specific management goals are met and desired results are achieved. Impact key quality goals including customer satisfaction, continuous improvement, reoccurring revenue, timeliness, accuracy, efficiency, cost savings, and process quality. Be responsible for all personnel issues and performance evaluation of subordinates, as well as overall employee satisfaction for the division. Perform other job duties as assigned by Caterpillar management from time to time. Qualifications
Knowledge of leadership concepts and the ability to use strategies and skills to enlist others in setting, embracing, and achieving objectives. Knowledge of software development tools and activities; ability to produce software products or systems in line with product requirements. Knowledge of the software development life cycle; ability to use a structured methodology for delivering and managing new or enhanced software products to the marketplace. Knowledge of software product design; ability to convert market requirements into the software product design. Knowledge of software quality assurance and testing; ability to apply appropriate processes, tools, and techniques for assuring a high level of quality in computer software products and systems. Experience
10+ years or more of software development experience. 5+ years or more of experience in managing or leading software development project teams. 5+ years or more of experience in designing and developing software applications. 5+ years or more of experience in public cloud technologies such as AWS or Azure. Any experience implementing infrastructure for Omniverse and Run.ai. Proven experience in Cloud Operations management and FinOps. Strong experience supporting or developing software. Deployment of software using CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GoCD, Azure DevOps, etc. At least three years of deploying and maintaining software using public clouds such as AWS or Azure. Experience working within an Agile framework (ideally Scrum). Knowledge of cybersecurity practices. Location and Travel
This position requires the candidate to be based in Chicago, IL; Peoria, IL; Denver, CO; or Irving, TX (Dallas). Relocation assistance is NOT available for this position. Visa sponsorship is NOT available with this position. Compensation and Benefits
Pay Range: $159,120.00 – $258,570.00. Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job‑related knowledge, skills, individual performance, and experience.
