Job Summary With a focus on an entire area of sales (e.g., Retail, Organics, Cruise Ships, Wholesale, etc.), the Program Manager will oversee sales and customer satisfaction alongside a team of associates. Goals and targets will be set to increase market share and case movement with a focus on profit and sales leverage.
Responsibilities
Meet with key customer contacts to solicit business, developing a sales strategy for implementation.
Guide, direct, develop, and evaluate sales associates.
Manage CMP, 30‑, 60‑, and 90‑day reviews.
Review receivables and resolve outstanding issues.
Collaborate with buyers and other operating‑company sales departments to maintain innovative and relevant product lines.
Prepare forecasts and create metrics to measure departmental performance.
Participate in company sales management meetings, strategy sessions, and related functions.
Qualifications Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent. College degree preferred.
Experience:
Three years of sales experience, with prior supervisory or management experience.
Skills:
Working knowledge of supply chain (warehouse/distribution).
Understanding of produce and other products being sold.
Ability to use a computer for order entry, inventory, spreadsheets, presentations, and general communication.
Effective leadership and management of others; preparation of budgets, sales forecasts, and pricing programs.
Decision-Making Authority Most important decisions made fully independently:
Managing others, pricing commodities to ensure maximum sales and profitability, issuing credits to customers (with advice from operations), selecting product lines to offer (in partnership with Merchandising), and resolving day‑to‑day issues.
Most important decisions made with review and approval of other individuals or supervisors:
Introduction of new product lines or special handling of product—approved by VP of Sales and VP of Operations.
Changes to routes or delivery parameters—approved by Director of Transportation.
Special pricing of product that would result in a loss of profit—approved by VP Sales or President.
