Float Pool Certified Nursing Assistant

We are seeking a Float Pool Certified Nursing Assistant, also referred to as a Med-Surg/Tele Multi-skilled Certified Nursing Assistant. The Float Pool Nursing Assistant assists with activities of daily living, provides basic nursing care to non-critical patients and assists in maintenance of a safe environment. They play a critical role in observing patients, reporting changes, and maintaining a safe, supportive environment to promote recovery under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse in charge of the team and/or unit.

Shift's Available: Nights

Hours: 12-hour shifts: 7p - 7a

Employment Type: Per Diem (PD / PRN)

Location: Riverview Regional Medical Center Gadsden, AL

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (includes, but not limited to):

  • Basic patient care: help patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) like bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and eating
  • Vital signs monitoring: take and record blood pressure, heart rate, temperature, respiratory rate, and oxygen saturation
  • Mobility assistance: help patients get in and out of bed, walk, or use assistive devices.
  • EKG lead maintenance: ensure telemetry monitors (heart monitors) are properly connected and functioning though Certified Nursing Assistant's (CNA's) don't usually interpret heart rhythms, they might recognize when alarms go off and immediately alert registered nurses
  • Observation: monitor patients for any physical changes (shortness of breath, chest pain, altered mental status) and quickly notifying the nursing staff
Qualifications

Education and Work Experience

Before we go any further, we do have some deal-breakers. You must have:

  • Current Certified Nursing Assistant certificate upon hire
  • Current BLS upon hire and maintain current

Additional Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Possess knowledge of Medical Terminology

Additional Qualifications That Are a Plus:

  • Minimum six months of previous experience in an acute care hospital or physician's office
