Description: The Speech Language Pathologist will diagnose disorders and provide therapy for clients who demonstrate communication and/or dysphagia disorders. The role involves assessing speech, language, and swallowing skills related to educational, medical, social, and psychological factors. Habilitative or rehabilitative treatment programs are planned, directed, or conducted to restore or improve communicative efficiency in children or adults with communication disorders of organic or non-organic etiology. The Speech Language Pathologist will provide consultation services to educational, medical, and other professional health groups. Services are delivered in inpatient and outpatient settings, area nursing homes, skilled nursing facilities, home health care, and hospice. The candidate must possess excellent problem-solving skills and the analytical ability to appropriately diagnose clients' problems and develop rehabilitation plans. The ability to communicate effectively with patients to establish a favorable attitude and motivate their cooperation in the rehabilitative program is essential. The Speech Language Pathologist should have a preference for working with people and technical activities related to diagnosing and treating speech impairments. The candidate must work with a variety of patients, including those requiring developmentally appropriate care, cultural diversity considerations, and specific diagnosis or procedure needs. Completion of departmental-specific orientations and ongoing learning is required, as is demonstrating competency through departmental evaluations. Reliable transportation is necessary for this position.
