Description: The RN Clinical Perioperative Nurse is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team of licensed and unlicensed caregivers. They ensure that patients, families, and significant others receive individualized, high-quality, safe patient care. Nursing practice is administered by Nurse Managers and supported through a shared governance model. The framework for practice is guided by a professional practice model, evidence-based practice, and research. RN competencies are derived from these models and supported by core competencies. All RN Clinical Nurses are expected to be licensed, knowledgeable, and uphold the practice of nursing as outlined by the state's Professional Nurse Practice Act. They implement the Scope of Practice and Code of Ethics Standards set forth by the relevant nursing association. As a member of the patient services team, individuals are expected to uphold the patient's voice, adhere to policies and procedures, and support service excellence goals.
Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions: Performs the Nursing Process, which includes assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation in clinical care. Utilizes evidence-based practice and critical thinking to ensure individualized care. Coordinates care through effective partnerships, recognizing that caring is central to achieving optimal patient care outcomes. Provides relationship-based, patient-centered care consistent with population-specific characteristics. Partners with patients and significant others using appropriate methods for engagement. Practices using current clinical practice standards and guidelines.
Teamwork and Collaboration: Coordinates the delivery and documentation of safe quality patient care. Promotes a respectful and inclusive clinical environment through diverse interdisciplinary communication methods. Demonstrates teamwork by promoting recruitment and retention of healthcare team members. Supports performance improvement initiatives and participates in evidence-based practice activities.
Professional Development and Initiative: Completes all initial and ongoing professional competency assessments and required education. Serves as a preceptor or mentor for other nurses and healthcare staff. Models professional nursing practice and contributes to a healthy work environment.
Evidence-Based Practice and Research: Promotes evidence-based practice and nursing research. Participates in decision-making processes related to patient care products. Upholds healthcare policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with legal, regulatory, and accreditation standards.
Resources and Support: Plans for the care of patients across the care continuum. Participates in developing protocols and procedures to achieve best practice outcomes. Supports efficient use of human and material resources.
Performs other duties as assigned. Complies with all organizational policies, standards of work, and code of conduct.
