Participates and manages a diverse Dermatology Team that provides comprehensive care to include diagnosis, treatment, follow-up and education of patients with Dermatologic conditions in inpatient/outpatient settings. Documents patient encounters and coding of visits accurately and timely. Evaluates, triage, and prioritize Dermatology consult requests to ensure timely care for patients. Performs excisional or diagnostic skin biopsies and minor skin surgeries. Reviews images from store and forward program to make treatment recommendations or determine urgency of face-to-face evaluations. Supervises providers in the dermatology section, including performance reviews and evaluations; ensuring providers are informed of and adherent to VA policies and procedures. Ensures efficient operations of the dermatology section and dermatology clinics. Advances the clinical, educational and research missions of VA. Participates in multidisciplinary/facility level process improvement teams and workgroups and committees as requested. Coordinates care at VA or non-VA referral centers for patients requiring services not provided at the facility such as MOHS surgery. Completes CME as required to maintain competency in Dermatology, medical licensure and board certification. HIPAA, Privacy and Security and other mandatory VA training in a timely manner. Perform other duties as appropriately assigned.
