Sterile Processing Tech I Do you have a good eye for detail, are you passionate about patient safety and do you like working in a team environment? Our Sterile Processing department wants to add a Sterile Processing Tech I to their great team. Monday - Friday Location: Missouri Baptist Evening shift 3pm-11:30pm Overview Memorial Hospital Belleville is an acute care hospital offering medical and surgical services plus critical and emergency care including Children's at Memorial for pediatric emergency care. It provides patients a full complement of diagnostic and treatment services as well as heart and vascular care. Memorial, offering medical and surgical services plus critical care, is an accredited Chest Pain Center with PCI by the Society of Cardiovascular Patient Care and is designated as an Acute Stroke Ready Hospital by the Illinois Department of Public Health. In addition, Memorial Belleville recently was accredited by the American College of Radiology as a designated Lung Cancer Screening Center. Since 2008, it has been designated as a Magnet®-recognized organization for nursing excellence by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. Memorial Hospital Shiloh, a 94-bed, all-private suite hospital was recognized with Magnet status in 2018 and provides emergency care, labor & delivery, nursery, medical and surgical services plus critical care. Services provided by Central Processing Services (CPS) include decontamination, prep and assembly, pasteurization, sterilization, patient care equipment control, and stocking and distribution of a variety of procedure carts and totes. Preferred Qualifications The Sterile Processing Technician performs a variety of central sterile processing functions, which include the decontamination, preparation, sterilization and distribution of sterile surgical instrumentation to the operating room (OR) and other areas throughout the hospital. Required to maintain and control both sterile and non-sterile supplies, and identify and remedy equipment and process failures and hazards while maintaining the appropriate and complete records. Responsibilities:
Assembles and processes instruments sets, trays, supplies and linen; prioritizes trays and tasks according to the surgery schedule. Utilizes and troubleshoots steam sterilizers. Follows proper techniques and procedures to ensure the integrity of the sterilization process. Disassembles, decontaminates, and processes instrumentation according to manufacturer and industry standards. Ensures instrumentation is reassembled correctly and functioning properly. BJC has determined this is a safety-sensitive position. The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner is an essential function of this job.
