Function as an independent professional and service provider with a strong focus on delivering unparalleled customer service.
Support otolaryngology physicians during daily patient schedules; see patients referred from other providers and patients needing hearing aids services.
Schedule, administer and interpret a variety of tests such as air and bone conduction and speech reception and discrimination tests to determine type and degree of hearing impairment, site of damage and effects on comprehension and speech.
Evaluate test results in relation to behavioral, social, educational and medical information obtained from patients, families, teachers, speech pathologists and other professionals to determine communication problems related to hearing disability. Refer to physician as appropriate.
Schedule, administer and interpret electrophysiological testing including OAE.
Bring new testing modalities and technology to the practice to enhance standard of care.
Plan and implement prevention, habilitation or rehabilitation services including hearing aid selection, orientation, counseling and programming.
Perform insurance checks, prior authorizations, and or prior determinations for hearing aid coverage.
Create, plan and implement marketing strategies and initiatives to enhance and promote growth of the hearing aid practice.
Provide earmold fitting for purposes of hearing protection and water protection.
Responsible for the operation, maintenance and calibration of all audiological equipment.
Order supplies and materials for departmental needs.
Act as a consultant to educational, medical, legal and other professional groups.
Maintain continuing education requirement of 20 CEU hours every 2 years in compliance with the mandate for professional licensure.
Perform other projects and duties as related to department objectives.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Au.D. or Master's Degree in Audiology
Certificate of Clinical Competency (CCC-A) required if supervising student externs
Strong organizational skills are essential to prioritize daily work
Excellent communication, interpersonal and critical-thinking skills
Minimum of one year of clinical audiology experience preferred. Will consider recent graduate
Must be a team player, to accept constructive criticism and be able to follow work rules
Proficiency with PC-based computer skills, and keyboarding including speed and accuracy
Microsoft Office Suite
EClinicalWorks or another EMR
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY This position has no supervisory responsibility. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Audiologist license in good standing and in applicable state required. CPR certification required. All employees are required to provide proof of vaccination or exemption.
Must have current licensure from the Maryland Department of Professional Regulation, and possess a Certificate of Clinical Competency in Audiology (if Master's prepared) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, for the purpose of student supervision.
