About
The Director, IT Financial Operations provides senior-level financial and operational leadership for Einstein Information Technology (EIT) at Albert Einstein College of Medicine (AECOM). This role supports a complex technology environment that enables the institution's missions of education, research, clinical care, and administration. The Director is responsible for ensuring sound financial stewardship, transparency, compliance, and operational efficiency while partnering closely with Information Technology leadership to manage operating budgets, technology investments, procurement, vendor relationships, contracts, and long-range financial planning.
The role serves as the primary financial and administrative partner to the Assistant Dean for Information Technology and works collaboratively with institutional Finance, Procurement, Accounts Payable, Human Resources, Legal, and Compliance offices. The Director balances fiscal discipline and operational excellence with the strategic technology priorities of the institution.
Position Responsibilities- Manage the operating budget for Einstein Information Technology, including infrastructure, enterprise applications, cybersecurity, cloud services, telecommunications, and end-user computing.
- Provide financial guidance aligned with the institution's strategic technology roadmap and long-term investment plans.
- Support Information Technology leadership with financial analysis, business cases, scenario modeling, and decision support for technology investments and operational initiatives.
- Monitor departmental expenditures and commitments, ensuring appropriate stewardship of institutional resources.
- Develop and manage annual operating and capital budgets for Einstein Information Technology.
- Prepare multi-year financial forecasts for technology operations, staffing, software licensing, infrastructure refresh cycles, cloud services, and strategic technology initiatives.
- Analyze spending trends and develop projections for recurring technology costs, vendor agreements, maintenance contracts, and subscription services.
- Partner with departmental leadership to identify financial risks, opportunities, and resource requirements.
- Oversee the financial management of technology projects and initiatives, including enterprise systems, infrastructure modernization, cybersecurity programs, cloud migrations, and digital transformation efforts.
- Monitor project budgets, commitments, contract expenditures, change requests, contingencies, and cash flow requirements.
- Partner with Information Technology domain leaders and project managers to manage financial risk while maintaining project scope, quality, and timelines.
- Support investment approval processes, business cases, and funding strategies consistent with institutional governance requirements.
- Oversee departmental recharge and cost allocation processes for technology services, ensuring accurate billing and timely reporting to Finance.
- Manage financial planning associated with software licensing, maintenance agreements, hardware lifecycle replacement programs, and vendor-supported services.
- Work closely with Human Resources and Finance to support personnel budgeting, workforce planning, payroll reconciliation, and position management activities.
- Analyze staffing costs, vacancy impacts, contractor utilization, and organizational resource requirements.
- Support leadership with workforce-related financial modeling and planning activities.
- Ensure personnel-related financial practices comply with institutional policies and budgetary guidelines.
- Ensure adherence to institutional financial policies, accounting standards, procurement requirements, and audit controls.
- Support internal and external audits related to Information Technology operations, contracts, licensing, and financial activities.
- Maintain compliance with institutional technology procurement, contract management, and financial governance requirements.
- Support transparency and reporting expectations of executive leadership and institutional stakeholders.
- Develop standardized financial reporting, dashboards, and key performance indicators for Information Technology operations and strategic initiatives.
- Analyze trends in software licensing, cloud consumption, vendor spending, infrastructure costs, and technology investments.
- Identify opportunities for cost optimization, operational efficiencies, and improved return on technology investments.
- Prepare executive-level reports and presentations to support strategic decision-making.
- Partner with Finance, Procurement, Human Resources, Legal, Compliance, Research Administration, and other institutional stakeholders.
- Coordinate with technology vendors, consultants, service providers, and affiliated organizations within established financial and operational controls.
- Serve as the primary liaison between Einstein Information Technology and institutional administrative offices on financial and operational matters.
- Support departmental strategic planning, portfolio governance, and organizational performance management activities.
- Lead, mentor, and develop administrative and financial staff supporting Information Technology operations.
- Foster a collaborative, service-oriented culture focused on accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
- Establish effective administrative processes and controls that support departmental growth and evolving technology needs.
- Support critical operational and service continuity activities when financial, vendor, contract, or administrative coordination is required.
- Participate in departmental governance, strategic planning, objectives and key results (OKR) initiatives.
- Perform other duties as assigned in support of the mission and operations of Einstein Information Technology.
Experience and Educational Background
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Information Systems Management, Economics, or a related field required. Master's degree preferred.
- Three to five years of progressively responsible finance, operations, business management, or administrative leadership experience in an academic medical center, healthcare organization, higher education institution, or similarly complex environment.
- Demonstrated experience managing operating budgets, technology-related financial planning, procurement, contracts, and project finances.
- Experience supporting Information Technology organizations or technology-intensive operations preferred.
- Experience with purchasing, accounts payable, vendor management, and financial reporting in complex organizations required.
Skills and Competencies
- Strong knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, procurement, contract administration, and operational finance.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate complex financial and operational information in clear and concise verbal, written, and visual formats.

Albert Einstein College of Medicine considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. Minimum Salary RangeUSD $140,000.00/Yr. Maximum Salary RangeUSD $165,000.00/Yr.
