The Opportunity The Strategic Account Sales Manager supports senior sales leadership in managing strategic containerboard customers and optimizing volume across a complex supply environment. The position blends customer interaction, commercial analytics, and cross‑functional coordination, with extensive travel across customer sites and manufacturing locations.
This role is intentionally broad and is best suited for candidates seeking a clear runway into larger account responsibilities or senior‑level sales roles over time.
How You Will Impact Smurfit Westrock
Support management of strategic customers
Assist with volume placement and trim optimization
Gain exposure to containerboard producer trade dynamics as well as negotiated independent corrugator customer relationships
Coordinate with planning, production, logistics, and customer service to align supply and demand
Maintain frequent customer engagement through heavy travel
Prepare forecasts, commercial analysis, and internal decision‑support materials
Monitor market conditions, customer needs, and competitive activity
Experience What you need to succeed:
~5+ years in B2B industrial sales; commercial support, supply‑chain experience beneficial
Background in paper, packaging, forest products, or similarly complex industrial markets preferred
Capabilities
Strong relationship and communication skills
Commercially analytical; comfortable with data and forecasting
Organized, detail‑oriented, and adaptable
Willing and able to travel extensively on a sustained basis
Education & Tools
Bachelor’s degree required
Proficient with Microsoft Office; CRM and BI/reporting tools a plus
