Our Programmatic Sales Team is one of most collaborative groups at Business Insider, working closely with cross-functional teams to deliver data-driven, high-impact solutions that align with our clients' goals and drive measurable results. In addition to internal collaboration with the Direct Sales team and Ad Operations teams, we work with many external partners (DSPs, SSPs) to maintain strong relationships.
The Role & Team:
As an Account Director, Programmatic Sales you will play a pivotal role in driving revenue growth through the sale of programmatic solutions to a portfolio of agencies, DSPs and in-house clients. The success in this role demands an intensity of effort, demonstrated through targeted outreach, pitch meetings, and securing new PMP and PG deals, in partnership with the Direct Sales teams.
The Account Director, Programmatic Sales should be a highly motivated and results-driven professional with deep subject matter expertise. This position serves as a key liaison, bridging communication and collaboration both externally and internally. Externally, the role represents Business Insider in building and maintaining strong client relationships. Internally, it acts as a connector between the Direct Sales team and Ad Operations, ensuring seamless coordination, alignment, and execution across departments.
The Account Director, Programmatic Sales reports directly to the Managing Director, Programmatic Sales and sits on the Programmatic Sales Team. This position is based in our New York City HQ with an in-office presence of at least 2 days per week.
Key Responsibilities: Programmatic Sales Strategy: Develop and execute a strategic plan to secure new programmatic deals in collaboration with the direct sales team. Work closely with the ad operations team to identify and grow existing programmatic accounts through effective relationship-building and optimization. Client Relationships: Establish and maintain strong relationships with existing named accounts, understanding their broader advertising goals and identifying opportunities for programmatic campaigns. Collaborate with the Direct Sales team to engage with new clients, understanding their business needs and providing tailored programmatic advertising solutions. Prospecting and Outreach: Leverage existing relationships with named accounts to introduce and promote programmatic offerings, showcasing the added value of Business Insider's programmatic solutions. Collaborate with the Direct Sales team to identify and engage new programmatic opportunities through targeted outreach, industry events, and networking. Prospect the open exchange to identify new target and upsell opportunities Intensity of Effort: Conduct outreach emails weekly to named accounts and potential new clients, showcasing Business Insider's programmatic offerings. Schedule and execute a minimum of 5 meetings per week to present programmatic solutions and gather client requirements. Cross-Team Collaboration: Partner with the Direct Sales team to ensure a unified and cohesive approach to clients, providing seamless integration of programmatic solutions into broader advertising strategies. Campaign Management and Optimization: Work collaboratively with internal teams, including Ad Operations and Account Management, to ensure successful execution and optimization of programmatic campaigns for both existing and new accounts. Provide insights and recommendations to clients and internal teams for optimizing programmatic campaigns to achieve maximum ROI. Reporting and Analysis: Provide regular reports and analyses on programmatic sales performance, highlighting successes, challenges, and opportunities for improvement. Collaborate with internal teams to gather feedback from clients and incorporate insights into refining programmatic offerings. The Ideal Candidate Has: Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field. Proven experience in programmatic sales, including strong experience within the digital media industry. Strong understanding of programmatic advertising technologies, platforms, and industry trends. Excellent communication and presentation skills. Results-oriented with a track record of meeting and exceeding sales targets. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. Analytical mindset with proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools. Be a consummate team player who loves to share and hates to lose.
