Job Description This position is a Master‑level Technician who provides a high skill level for accurate vehicle maintenance and repairs of fleet vehicles with a focus on exceptional customer satisfaction in a cost‑effective manner. A Technician may work independently or in a team environment.
Job Responsibilities
Perform preventive maintenance: change oil, oil filter, fuel filter, transmission flush, and inspection of vehicle for mechanical deficiencies.
Perform light and major repairs.
Perform advanced vehicle diagnostics.
Interact directly with customers, displaying exceptional interpersonal skills while driving service center’s performance with the highest integrity and trust.
Based upon certification levels, perform various repairs and maintenance which may include OBD II systems, brake components, tires, tune‑ups, suspension components, aerial lifts, electrical systems, state safety inspections, interior/exterior components, engine, and drive‑line components, etc.
Maintain/repair equipment (cable trailers, laptop docking stations, etc.).
Maintain a clean and tidy shop area and perform work in accordance with safety standards.
Dispose of all fluids safely and in compliance with all regulations.
Create and maintain vehicle history and maintenance records; may up‑fit new vehicles with necessary equipment.
Perform complex repairs, advanced diagnostics, design, and fabrication.
Coordinate with vendors for parts and repairs to assure prompt repairs; may provide roadside assistance as needed.
Engage in equipment design, moderate fabrication tasks including welding, and provide custom equipment when needed.
Troubleshoot and repair complex hydraulic systems, generators, electrical systems, hybrids, and on‑board computer systems to assure availability of specialized trucks.
Diagnose, repair, and replace general automotive parts and accessories; conduct a wide variety of diagnoses and repairs including brakes, drivability, emissions, steering/suspension, electrical, state safety, emissions testing, maintenance services, HVAC, major engine, and hydraulics.
Use medium/heavy truck experience, booms/hydraulics, electrical, and any complex repairs, design, and fabrication.
Skilled in diesel and transmission repairs.
Possess advanced knowledge and advanced troubleshooting skills to resolve complex repairs.
Work on multiple applications from light‑duty to class‑A heavy trucks, mechanical equipment, machinery, passenger vehicles, and more.
Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Job Qualifications
High School Diploma/GED and five years’ experience in a related field. Alternatively, a higher degree or certification beyond a HS diploma/GED with three years’ experience, or seven years’ experience in a related field.
Currently possess or be able to attain Master Level ASE certification (preferred).
Must continue training to maintain current ASE status and stay current with technology and fleet changes.
Safe drivers needed; valid driver’s license required. Candidate must hold a valid state of residence driver’s license and be able to obtain and maintain a Driver Qualification File.
Ability to drive vehicles with standard and automatic transmission.
Ability to work safely in a fast‑paced environment.
Ability to enter and exit vehicles frequently.
Regularly required to stand, walk, reach, talk, and hear; frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, squat, and climb.
Vision abilities required including close, distance, and color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Must be detail oriented.
Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds (tools, equipment).
Transmission experience preferred.
Master level Technicians must be versatile to work on multiple applications from light‑duty to class‑A heavy trucks, mechanical equipment, machinery, and passenger vehicles.
Requires extensive training and certification accompanied with a preferred five to ten years of hands‑on diesel repair experience.
Must have working knowledge of DOT and CDL requirements for medium and heavy truck applications.
Must be able to obtain Class A or B Operator’s License if required.
Current and valid DOT medical card with more than four months remaining until expiration may be submitted in lieu of a DOT physical. If the DOT medical card has four months or less of validity remaining, a DOT physical will be required.
