Join a dedicated healthcare team in the heart of the Midwest region, providing compassionate and essential support to patients in a perioperative setting. As a Patient Care Assistant (PCA), you will work under the guidance of licensed nurses to deliver direct patient care that promotes safety, comfort, and well-being. General Summary Under the supervision of an RN, LPN, or shift manager, the PCA performs vital patient care tasks, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for recovery and treatment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Adhere to established safety protocols including infection control, safe patient handling, and timely communication of patient condition changes to nursing staff. Provide basic care such as monitoring vital signs, glucometer checks, assisting with toileting, feeding, bathing, and mobility activities. Collaborate closely with nursing personnel to meet patient needs promptly and enhance the overall patient experience. Accurately document all care activities to support clinical decision-making and continuity of care. Effectively communicate relevant patient information to the healthcare team to improve outcomes and quality of care. Education High school diploma or GED is preferred. Experience At least one year of experience in a similar role is preferred. Requirements
Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) credential preferred; if uncertified or with less than one year of experience, completion of a PCA training academy is required. American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification must be obtained within the first 90 days of employment; training is provided.
Mental and Physical Demands This role requires considerable mental focus and physical activity including lifting up to 35 pounds, standing, walking, and various movements such as bending, reaching, and twisting. Working Conditions Frequent exposure to infectious and communicable diseases through blood and bodily fluids is expected. Occasional encounters with hostile individuals may occur.
