About
Assists in delivery of physicians' reports via phone and electronic distribution in a timely manner. Performs venipuncture on patients of all age groups and other specimen collection using proper therapeutic skills and according to procedures. Maintains work area and supplies according to protocol between patients and end of shift. Maintains laboratory information system. Monitors error logs. Obtains diagnosis and patient demographics to ensure proper billing. Receives samples into the laboratory, orders, and accessions. Responsible for reference lab orders and results. May perform waived laboratory testing on-site and reports results according to government standards. Assists with specimen processing and pre-analytical testing functions. Provides training to students and other personnel populations. Skills and Attributes:
Requires critical thinking skills and decisive judgment. Works under general supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. Applies more advanced skills and knowledge in the area of specialization. Position Requirements: Work Experience

Education
High school diploma, General Equivalency Diploma (GED) or higher preferred. Licensure/Certification/Registration
CPT - Certified Phlebotomy Technician from National Heathcareer Association (NHA) preferred OR PBT - Certified Phlebotomy Technician through the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) preferred OR RPT - Phlebotomy Technician certification through American Medical Technologists (AMT) preferred AND BLS - Certified as a Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider required within 90 days of employment in this position Organizational Responsibilities:
