Quality Control Technician Location: Castleblayney, Co. Monaghan Salary: €35,000 - €40,000 (depending on experience) Job Type: Full-time | Permanent We are currently recruiting for a Quality Control Technician on behalf of a well-established food manufacturing company based in Castleblayney, Co. Monaghan. This Quality Control Technician role is ideal for someone with strong food safety knowledge who enjoys working closely with production teams to ensure high product quality and compliance with industry standards. The successful Quality Control Technician will report to the Technical Manager and will play an important role in maintaining and improving the company's Quality Management System. About the Role The Quality Control Technician will be primarily site-based and responsible for monitoring product quality, supporting food safety systems and ensuring production processes meet company, legal and customer standards. You will work closely with production teams to maintain quality standards while helping identify opportunities for continuous improvement. Working Hours Typical hours: 6:00am - 3:00pm Occasionally: 8:30am - 5:30pm depending on operational requirements. Key Responsibilities As Quality Control Technician, your duties will include: Conducting routine quality control checks including: Raw material testing Finished product inspections Weight checks Label verification Temperature monitoring Ensuring compliance with HACCP, food safety legislation and customer specifications Identifying non-conformances and assisting with corrective and preventative actions Carrying out GMP and hygiene audits across production areas Supporting customer audits and BRCGS audits Investigating customer complaints and identifying root causes Monitoring quality KPIs and reporting on performance Supporting improvements in product quality, efficiency and waste reduction Maintaining quality documentation and completing reports Assisting with staff training on food safety and quality procedures Requirements To be successful as a Quality Control Technician, you should have: Diploma or Degree in Food Science, Food Technology or a related discipline Minimum 5 years' experience in a food manufacturing environment Strong knowledge of HACCP and Quality Management Systems Experience with BRCGS standards Experience in New Product Development (NPD) is beneficial Experience in high-risk food production is desirable but not essential Key Skills Excellent attention to detail Strong communication and teamwork skills Ability to work independently Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Good organisational and time management skills Comfortable using computer systems and reporting tools Full clean driving licence and own transport What's on Offer Salary €35,000 - €40,000 depending on experience Permanent full-time role Opportunity to work with a well-established food manufacturing business Supportive and collaborative working environment Skills: warehouse sales forklift
