Job SummaryThe Electrophysiology Lab is a specialized invasive procedure suite where cardiac electrophysiology procedures are performed on patients from neonate through geriatrics. The Electrophysiology Technician is an integral part the EP team and is responsible for operating the technical equipment used during complex EP procedures. A strong knowledge base that includes experience in an Electrophysiology Lab setting, operation of Mac Lab/Cardio Lab, endocardial mapping equipment including but not limited to Biosense Webster and Carto, as well as experience with assisting the physician in the scrub role for pacemaker and ICD implant procedures is required. The EP tech is required to work in the EP Procedural areas as well as in the OR and Hybrid Suite to assist with CVT duties outlined in this position description. Technical duties include pre/post procedure preparation including patient transport as required, operation of EP monitors and computers, maintains inventory control and supply management/usage, and assists in maintaining a safe work environment. #CA-SB Apply By Date 7/1/2026 by 11:59pm: interviews may occur at anytime Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position Electrophysiology Technician 1
American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS), or UC Davis Health CPR American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) American Heart Association (AHA) Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within 3 months of hire High school diploma, general education diploma (GED), or equivalent experience/training 1 year experience as a CVT tech - will consider course work in lieu of work experience Ability to perform all roles of the EP Scrub Tech. Knowledge of cardiac anatomy, physiology and electrophysiology. Skills to work accurately and quickly under pressure. Judgment skills to be able to make independent clinical decisions within scope of practice. Ability to set priorities, organize work independently for self and others. Working knowledge of EP systems equipment Knowledge and recognition of pressure waveforms and ECG analysis. Knowledge of laboratory supplies. Ability to provide pre- and post-EP teaching explanations of procedures and emotional support to patients and families. Ability to participate in implementing standards of patient care. Ability to participate in establishing policies and procedures and in ongoing CQI program. Willingness and ability to work in a cooperative fashion with other staff members. Ability to utilize chain of command for questions or escalations.
Electrophysiology Technician 2: all requirements from above and below
Registered Cardiovascular Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES) or Certified Electrophysiology Specialist (CEPS) 3 years recent EP tech with Electrophysiology Stimulator experience 3 years experience in invasive cardiology (EP) labs Experience with assisting the physician in the scrub role for pacemaker and ICD implant procedures. Knowledge of PACS, EPIC, MAC Lab and inventory management system. Judgment skills to be able to make independent clinical decisions within scope of practice. Strong knowledge of EP systems equipment. Ability to teach safety practices and equipment operational practices. Ability to provide orientation and instruction to new EP lab staff and teaching to cardiology fellows, nursing students and visitors.

Department Overview The Electrophysiology (EP) Laboratory is a specialized unit focused on the diagnosis and treatment of cardiac arrhythmias through advanced electrophysiological procedures. The department includes two dedicated EP labs, each equipped with state-of-the-art mapping systems, fluoroscopy, and ablation technologies to support both diagnostic and therapeutic interventions. Our expert team provides care to a broad patient population, from neonates to geriatric patients, ensuring individualized and age-appropriate management of complex rhythm disorders. Procedures performed in the EP lab include diagnostic EP studies, catheter ablations, pacemaker and implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD) insertions, lead extractions, and device troubleshooting. Highly skilled Electrophysiologists, Cardiovascular Technologists (CVTs), nurses, and anesthesia providers work collaboratively to deliver safe, precise, and patient-centered care using evidence-based practices and the latest innovations in cardiac electrophysiology.
