Salado Isolation Mining Contractors, LLC (SIMCO), managing and operating contractor of the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) is currently seeking a qualified individual to serve as a
Quality Assurance Analyst/Specialist
and join our team located in Carlsbad, New Mexico.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will conduct Quality Assurance and Quality Control reviews, surveillances, and associated activities. Review and approve various work package documents to ensure quality needs are addressed. Provide input for quality inspection criteria for nuclear items to be fabricated, procured, modified, used, or maintained for the site. Conduct Quality Control independent oversight of activities onsite and offsite. May be required to qualify as a Surveillor or Lead Auditor. Provide occasional expertise as a Technical Specialist for assessment activities. Prepare quality oversight plans associated with design, procurement, fabrication, and construction of either items or facilities (i.e., purchase requisitions, work packages, and procedures). Must be able to demonstrate excellent technical writing skills to develop technical reports to define Quality Assurance positions, including creating and maintaining Quality Assurance department program documents. This position requires the ability to meet site vision requirements, the capability to perform inspections in unfavorable New Mexico weather, to perform inspections on elevated platforms, and the ability to transport tools/equipment weighing up to 40 pounds.
Minimum Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Management or an Engineering related degree, or
Associate’s degree with four (4) years of relevant experience, or
High School Diploma or Equivalency with eight (8) years of relevant experience is required.
Must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.
Preferred Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Management or Engineering.
Any of the following certifications: ACI, ICC, AWS, CWI or ASNT.
Quality audit, assessment, surveillance, and inspection experience.
Familiarity with nuclear construction standards and processes.
Broad nuclear Qualtiy Assurance background with Quality Control and Quality Assurance programs experience and working knowledge of a Quality Assurance program as defined in 10CFR830, subpart A and ASME/NQA-1.
Prior NQA-1 Lead Auditor Certification and American Society for Quality Certification.
Must have strong interface skills and be able to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal direction.
Strong oral and written communication skills.

Exempt grade level(s) 28-31. Salary range: $70,972 to $133,850 per year -- the specific salary offered to a candidate will be influenced by a variety of factors, particularly the candidate’s relevant experience and education.
