Calibration Supervisor

The Calibration Supervisor is responsible for managing the MSD Calibration and Preventative Maintenance Program. This position will directly supervise calibration technicians and ensure employee proficiency.

Duties and responsibilities include managing and participating in calibration and calibration coordination activities, supervising calibration technicians, maintaining the calibration database and records, assigning new equipment identification, monitoring controlled temperature units, participating in validation risk assessments, assisting in identifying and developing work processes, and promoting a culture of continuous improvement.

Experience and qualifications required include a minimum of 3 years of experience in industrial laboratory, biotechnology or related field, a minimum of one year of experience as a team lead, a Bachelor's Degree in scientific discipline, experience with pipette calibrations per ISO 8655, and familiarity with ISO 9001 and 13485.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities include basic knowledge of laboratory terminology, proficiency in MS Excel, MS Word, and familiarity with MS Office tools, strong communication and interpersonal skills, effective communication of issues impacting timelines and quality, strong organizational and multi-tasking skills, and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Physical demands include the ability to communicate and exchange information, utilize equipment necessary to perform the job, and move about the office. While performing the duties of this job, the individual is frequently required to sit or stand for long periods, walk, use hands and fingers to operate, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms, and this position requires frequent travel between MSD campuses.

Work environment includes performing the position primarily in a standard office environment, and in a standard biology laboratory environment, BSL-1, or BSL-2 area as needed.
