Data Analyst Agency: Texas A&M University – Graduate and Professional School Location: College Station, Texas Job Type: Staff Salary: $56,000.00 (based on selected hire’s qualifications) What We Want We are seeking a detail‑oriented and collaborative Data Analyst with strong analytical skills who can transform complex data into actionable insights. The ideal candidate has at least two years of professional experience developing and maintaining interactive Power BI dashboards and reports, supported by a solid understanding of DAX fundamentals. They are proficient in Python (preferably using Jupyter Notebook) for data analysis, ETL processes, and workflow documentation, and possess advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, Power Query, and advanced formulas. Working knowledge of SQL, Banner, Microsoft Access, Git, and ETL/data pipeline development is highly desirable. The successful candidate is comfortable working independently while collaborating closely with colleagues to translate analytical requirements into effective technical solutions. They prepare and deliver high‑quality ad hoc reports, interactive dashboards, infographics, and technical documentation while ensuring data accuracy. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential. Responsibilities Power BI Dashboard Design, Development and Maintenance Support Collaborate with team members across the Graduate and Professional School to gather reporting needs and translate data requirements into the design and development of interactive, user‑friendly Power BI dashboards and data visualizations. Support, maintain and enhance existing Power BI solutions by optimizing performance, improving data load efficiency, and refining visual layouts and data structures to enhance user experience. Troubleshoot issues related to data accuracy, refresh processes, and report functionality to ensure reliable, high‑quality reporting outputs. Perform end‑to‑end Power BI data pipeline processes, including data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL), to ensure datasets are accurately structured for reporting and visualization. Assist with extracting data from Compass reports and other institutional data sources. Perform data querying, data cleaning, and validation activities such as handling missing values, removing duplicates, and validating data consistency across multiple data sources. Support senior analysts and independently complete planned and ad hoc data reporting requests from university department directors, academic units, and other stakeholders. Conduct detailed analyses of both quantitative and qualitative data, and develop clear and well‑structured reports, summaries, and presentation materials for diverse stakeholders. Assist with event and operational support activities, including required and mandatory all‑hands‑on‑deck events. Support coordination of logistics, space, materials, and staffing needs to ensure successful execution of events. Provide additional operational support as needed to assist with departmental priorities and high‑volume activities. Qualifications Required Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum of two years of progressively responsible experience designing, developing, and maintaining Power BI dashboards and reports. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a dynamic, team‑oriented environment. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain a high level of accuracy and professionalism. Demonstrated ability to design, develop, and maintain interactive dashboards and data visualizations using Power BI. Ability to interpret data and present findings clearly to non‑technical audiences. Preferred Qualifications: Master’s Degree (in related field). Familiarity with DAX fundamentals, including measures and calculated columns. Proficiency in Python and Microsoft Excel. More than two years of experience using Python in Jupyter Notebook for data analysis, automation, and workflow documentation. More than two years of advanced professional experience with Power BI, including dashboard development, data modeling, DAX, and report optimization. Preferred Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Demonstrated proficiency in developing, maintaining, and documenting data analysis workflows using Python in Jupyter Notebook, including data extraction, transformation, visualization, and reporting. Demonstrated proficiency in designing and delivering interactive, high‑quality, and insightful data visualizations using Power BI, supported by a strong understanding of DAX fundamentals, including measures and calculated columns. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, advanced formulas, Power Query). Working knowledge of SQL, Banner, Microsoft Access, and version control tools such as Git. Experience creating infographics and technical reports, with strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively present analytical findings to diverse audiences.
