Location: Chicago, IL
Job Summary STAFFXPERT LLC is seeking a Senior Data Engineer on behalf of our client in Chicago, IL. This role is ideal for a highly experienced data professional with a strong background in designing, developing, and optimizing modern data platforms and scalable data pipelines. The successful candidate will possess deep expertise in data warehousing, data modeling, ETL/ELT processes, and cloud-based data engineering technologies.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain scalable, reliable, and high-performance data pipelines.
Build and optimize data solutions using SQL, Python, Snowflake, and dbt.
Develop and manage workflow orchestration processes using Airflow.
Integrate data from multiple source systems into enterprise data warehouse environments.
Implement and support ETL/ELT frameworks to ensure efficient data processing and delivery.
Ensure data quality, governance, security, and compliance standards are maintained.
Optimize data models, queries, and overall platform performance.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, business stakeholders, and technical leaders to deliver data-driven solutions.
Participate in architecture reviews, technical discussions, and strategic data initiatives.
Support CI/CD practices and automation for data engineering workflows.
Troubleshoot complex data issues and provide effective solutions.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
12+ years of experience in Data Engineering, Data Warehousing, or a related discipline.
Strong hands-on experience with:
SQL
Python
Snowflake
dbt
Apache Airflow
Experience with version control systems such as Git.
Expertise in designing and implementing scalable data architectures and pipelines.
Strong understanding of ETL/ELT methodologies, data integration, and data modeling.
Experience with data governance, data quality, and performance optimization.
Knowledge of CI/CD tools and best practices for data engineering environments.
Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.
Ability to lead technical discussions and collaborate effectively across teams.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in large-scale enterprise environments.
Exposure to modern cloud-based data platforms and data engineering best practices.
Prior experience supporting business intelligence, analytics, or reporting initiatives.
