About

PRAD Intelligence Lab Supervisor This position supports the Intelligence Lab Manager by helping to find projects and mentor students in the BYU PRAD Intelligence Lab. The Intelligence Lab supports the PRAD curriculum and is directed by the PRAD Faculty. The projects include client work, case competitions, and research that advances the field of public relations and advertising. What you'll do in this position:
Work with PRAD Faculty and Lab Manager to secure client projects through new business efforts. Create letters of engagement and secure client approvals. Manage and mentor student teams on projects for the required courses in the PRAD program and additional projects in the lab. Review and provide ongoing feedback on student work. Assist in training student employees to manage and lead projects in the lab. Implement systems and procedures that enhance the student experience and elevate the quality of work. Coach students on how to develop strategic insights for clients from research data (including secondary research, digital research, and human-subjects research). Mentor students on resumes and portfolios. Help develop relationships with recruiters and hiring managers to create network opportunities for students in the PRAD Program. Manage budgets and timelines. Work with the PRAD Faculty and Lab Manager on other duties and responsibilities associated with operating the Intelligence Lab.
What qualifies you for this role: Required:
Bachelors degree in advertising, public relations, marketing or mass communications, or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience required. Minimum of three years of experience in corporate communications or marketing departments and/or advertising agencies. Proven ability to manage people and processes such as budgets (both internal and external client budgets). Proven experience meeting client expectations with outstanding creative solutions. Proven ability to mentor and motivate while managing students effectively. Ability to form and leverage professional contacts and relationships to secure business opportunities for the labs. Ability to effectively sell the capabilities of the PRAD Intelligence Lab to prospective clients, close deals to provide new business to the labs, and gain/maintain client confidence in the lab's ability to deliver. Strong understanding of the theory and practice of advertising, public relations, or strategic communications, and a strong familiarity with the components and tools of campaigns, particularly of principles and procedures taught in our curriculum, to ensure that the labs are an extension of classroom learning. Ability to evaluate and elevate student work, namely strategic communications plans, and then give feedback that will inspire students to refine and polish their presentations Ability to manage expectations and pressure under tight deadlines. Understanding of the trends and changes facing the communications industries, coupled with an understanding of the School of Communications' curriculum and the University's unique vision for its student labs. Ability to communicate clearly and collaborate with students, faculty, clients and administration. Support the students and faculty in executing campaign and client deliverables.
Preferred:
Bachelor's degree in advertising or public relations.
